Continuing Education Committee

The GoodTherapy.org Continuing Education Commitee is an important aspect of our efforts to provide quality continuing education events for our members. The Continuing Education Committee reviews potential CE presenters and topics, as well as coordinates our online CE events.

  • Amy Richman    Continuing Education Coordinator

    Amy holds bachelor's degrees in creative writing and fine arts from the University of Denver. It could be said that her life pursuit is to find the most balanced and fun way to combine a desire to help others with a desire to lead a nourished creative life.

    Before joining GoodTherapy.org's team, Amy taught art and poetry to elementary students in the St. Louis public school system, worked for a start-up interior design company bent on environmentally friendly solutions, and had a brief interlude in the grants department of an arts commission dedicated to social justice through artistic outreach programs.

    Amy's dog, Barney, keeps her on her toes and full of laughter.

  • Jackie Fry, MA    Continuing Education Coordinator

    Jackie has a well-rounded perspective in the field of mental health care, having provided clinical services and managed a team of clinicians prior to joining GoodTherapy.org as continuing education coordinator. In past positions, she helped coordinate and implement educational programs for an interdisciplinary team of practitioners.

    The holder of a master’s in counseling psychology from Saint Martin’s University and a bachelor’s in liberal arts from The Evergreen State College, Jackie is passionate about learning new things and hopes to better the world one good deed at a time.

    In her spare time, Jackie enjoys gardening, reading, and playing on the waters of Puget Sound.

  • Chen Z. Oren, PhD    Continuing Education Committee Member

    Dr. Chen Oren is a licensed psychologist in private practice in Westlake Village, California. Dr. Oren received his PhD in counseling psychology from the University of Southern California. He has experience working in university counseling centers, community mental health, and private practice. Dr. Oren specializes in the psychology of men and sports psychology. He works with individuals and couples and co-leads a men's group. He speaks nationally and locally on issues of diversity, men, fathers, and sport psychology. In 2009 he co-edited Counseling Fathers (Routledge), a book designed to bridge the gap between fathers and professional helpers. He is currently conducting an exploratory national survey on fathers and therapy.

  • Karen Hofmann, PhD    Continuing Education Committee Member

    Dr. Karen Hofmann is the Associate Director and Director of Training at the University of Central Florida's Counseling Center. She is a licensed psychologist in the state of Florida, and an experienced therapist who has been seeing clients as well as teaching new therapists about the practice of psychotherapy. She maintains a part-time private practice in the greater Orlando, Florida area.

    Karen started working as a therapist in 1989 at the Alcohol and Drug Outpatient Program in Austin, Texas. She went on to earn her MS in Educational Psychology in 1992, and a PhD in Counseling Psychology in 1998 from Texas AandM University. She completed her pre-doctoral internship at the Texas AandM University Counseling Center. She has been practicing psychology for the last 17 years, and her professional areas of interest and specialization are relationships and family issues, women/gender issues, trauma/abuse recovery, identity development, sexual orientation, identity and expression issues, social justice, group process, and supervision. She is currently a board member for the Association of Counseling Center Training Agencies (ACCTA).

  • Susan Buckles, JD, BCD, LICSW    Continuing Education Committee Member

    Susan Buckles is a social worker in private practice on Bainbridge Island, Washington. After receiving her MSW in 1994, Susan worked for a small community agency on the Island, serving domestic violence victims, running a perpetrator treatment program, and coordinating a community-based family counseling program. Since 2005 she has focused on private practice and on teaching clinical ethics from a Right Use of Power perspective. Susan also has a "day job" as an administrative review judge for a Washington State agency. She completed her JD in 1981 and worked for Western Nebraska Legal Services and Oregon Legal Services before entering her present field.

    In her spare time Susan enjoys creating many types of textile art; reading about cosmology, archaeology, and paleoanthropology; hanging out with her Shiba Inu; and spending time with friends.

  • Wei-Chien Lee, PhD    Continuing Education Committee Member

    Dr. Wei-Chien Lee is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist, a National Certified Counselor, and a Counselor Faculty and the Student Success Coordinator at San Jose State University Counseling Services. Dr. Lee is also a member of the Professional Development Committee of the National Academic Advising Association as well as a member of the Directorate of the CCAPS of the American College Personnel Association.

    Dr. Lee received her PhD from Purdue University (Counseling Psychology) and completed her postdoctoral training at Stanford University Counseling and Psychological Services. Dr. Lee is a scholar, clinician, consultant, and teacher. She has published journal articles and book chapters and given more than thirty presentations at national and regional conferences. She has provided individual, couple, and group therapy to diverse populations for more than ten years. In addition, she has been invited to provide consultations to individuals and organizations (included California Board of Psychology). Finally, as her knowledge and skills are well-recognized, Dr. Lee has often been invited to train therapists and psychologists.

    Dr. Lee has always wanted to help people be happier and healthier--she feels extremely honored and fortunate that she is able to do so, and enjoys working and helping people every day.
