Are you emotionally overwhelmed? Are you having negative, sad, andor uncomfortable thoughts? Are your friends and family tired of you talking about the same thing over and over again? Is your worry wearing you out? Do you live in fear of your next wave of panic? Anxiety issues rob you of peace, self-esteem, and joy. The good news is, you CAN learn to control your reaction to your fears! Anxiety is one of the most successfully treated conditions. According to the National Institute of Mental Health, more than 90% of people with an anxiety disorder will make a good recovery if given appropriate treatment. I use a combination of relaxation and body awareness training and cognitive-behavioral interventions when teaching people to get their anxious reactions under control. In addition to helping people calm their anxiety, I also use the same processes, combined with one-on-one attention and empathy to help people lift their depression, heal emotional pain, and improve their relationships. I believe everyone has the inner wisdom and potential to learn what they need to learn, change what they want to change, and live the life of peace, joy, and happiness that they envision. Give me a call and let's get started.

Transition is often hard. Adjusting between being independent and being in a relationship, adjusting from a school career to a professional career, adjusting to a new sexual or gender identity or simply adjusting to the reality and responsibilities of being an independent adult. Despite often times feeling intelligent and capable, feelings of being stuck, depression and anxiety seem to get the best of you in this present moment. Transition can cause one to question one's self identity and self worth. There are approaches to adapt to these changes and create a more meaningful approach to identity and life. I approach these adjustments and transitions in life as unique experiences of change and growth. While feelings of doubt, confusion, and depression are normal. I like to help individuals and couples navigate through these feelings through personal reflection and acknowledgment. I encourage both personal empowerment as well as openness to new approaches. I have been drawn to this field to build relationships and work collaboratively to help others realize where they are and where they want to be. While I do not accept insurance as Licensed Professional Counselor at this time, I do offer free phone consultations and relatively affordable sessions for adolescents, adults and couples.
I find that people truly want to be heard and want to be involved in finding solutions to their issues. I also believe that each person has the strength and courage to make this journey. As a therapist, I believe my role is to encourage, support and help my clients find a more preferred future. I help clients explore new ways to address old problems and encourage them to take steps, even small ones, toward the life they have envisioned for themselves and their family. It is always an honor for me to be invited into the lives of my clients.
As a young adult you might feel like you have no clue how to handle some of the life's complex challenges thrown at you. Or sometimes the pain of life is just too great, too overwhelming, and you feel completely alone and stuck with a problem. Or you have experienced the greatest loss of your life, and you just need someone to listen to you and give you a different perspective. This is where we can help you. We will treat you with respect and compassion and listen carefully with empathy to your problem. We will hold a safe and confidential space for you to share your thoughts and feelings. We will work together to help you become aware of your thoughts and feelings about a problem, and how to look at those problems in different, more manageable ways. Rather than adopting only one methodology for all individuals and issues, each therapist draws from a variety of methods that are most effective for each individual and situation. As social workers we take a strength perspective and focus on what your strengths are and how we can build on those strengths to reach your potential.
