Are you feeling frustrated with your personal or work life? Do you feel like work is causing you stress and anxiety? Do you want to make a change -- either a new job or a change of careers? Have you felt like everything is out of balance? Do you aspire to a life different than the one that you are living? Do you feel that your life is stagnating and you are unsure about how to change it? If your career or personal life has you feeling like there has got to be something better out there for you, then I want to work with you. My practice offers a full range of career coaching and therapy services, including individual career counseling, career testing, leadership assessment, and coaching. I aim to identify the areas in your personal or professional life that are leaving you feeling like you are stuck, unhappy, or generally dissatisfied, and then together we will set goals and begin to create a plan to transform your life. Together, we will help you to build the skills and awareness you need to make the changes in your life that will guide you to greater happiness.
People who come to my practice often feel let down by others, misunderstood, led to believe there is something wrong with them. In our work, I tend to be interested in how the past interacts with the present, helping you gain insight, self-acceptance, and self-awareness in a collaborative atmosphere. I will be your partner in the process, identifying problematic patterns of thought and behavior, understanding what's inhibiting you in relationships, and facilitating difficult emotions.
My place in this world is to be the foundation for people when they feel as if they have none. My duty is to provide my clients with the tools they need to continue the process of healing long after they cease receiving my services. I am the pillar of strength for my clients to lean on until, together, we find a way for them to stand tall on their own. This is the therapeutic relationship, the definition of healing that lovingly guides me in my practice.

You might be the one everyone relies on, but you feel unsure of your own direction. I work with children, adolescents, young adults, and adults. Some treatment approaches are play therapy techniques, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), the strengths approach, being goal-oriented, and incorporating mindfulness. For kids: incorporating activitiesplay to work with them in their own territory understanding. Children dealing with anxiety, sadness, feeling misunderstood, bullying, friendship troubles, family conflicts, attention issues, or not knowing how to express their emotions in a productive way, are all goals I look for. For adults: Going through stressful times and not knowing how to cope, feelings of anxiety, going through depression, having family or friend conflicts, or needing help understanding their own emotions and how to listen and fulfill their own needs are goals I look for. I will help by being a listening ear to whatever needs to be worked on or talked about in the moment. While listening, I will also incorporate the right amount of psycho-education on whatever is being worked on, so the client is well informed on how their mind and body work. This also includes teaching mindfulness techniques that clients can use in their own lives to better feel attached to their own reality. I also like to feed off the strengths perspective by helping clients realize their capabilities and strengths in their own lives. For children, these techniques may show in a different capacity for their understanding, but are still useful to incorporate. The use of play and activities will be used to help the child build rapport, trust, and validation through a therapy session.

I believe therapy is a way toward a fuller, more satisfying life. Together we will journey past the obstacles to greater self-esteem, more satisfying relationships, work and play. I engage actively with you but am guided by your individual needs and wishes. I believe therapy can help you to find ways to expand the strengths you already have and add new skills, experiences and ways of seeing yourself. I work in an eclectic manner and am particularly interested in the unity of body and mind. How we think and feel are intimately connected and I am interested in bringing together the various dichotomies that confound us: thoughts and feelings, past and future, work and creativity, self and other.
My approach to therapy is focused on creating a safe space someone can explore challenging thoughts and emotions, whether it is related to depression anxiety or struggles with addiction or compulsive behaviors. I truly believe if a person feels heard, learns effective coping skills and has the time and space to process the challenges in life, that growth and the ability to create the lives we want, is possible. I am passionate in supporting individuals to seek the potential and confidence to work toward their goals as well as learn the skill needed to cope with life's issues and challenges.
Therapy is not one size fits all and it definitely is not a person show. It's more of a team effort. I focus on collaborating with clients to identify and work towards their goals. My sessions are compassionate, genuine, and sprinkled with humor at times. It is essential for me to ensure that my sessions are a place where you can feel comfortable discussing even the most sensitive of topics in a judgment free space. My goal is to help you revive and thrive! I am a Columbia University graduate but the best education has been my 17+ years of experience working with clients. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), I have worked with various client populations addressing various concerns including life stressors and transitions, grief or loss, depression, anxiety, ADHD, trauma, managing chronic illness, Bipolar Disorder and more. I'll be using various approaches and interventions depending on your specific needs and preferences. Some common interventions include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing, Psychodynamic Therapy, Object Relations Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Strengths Based Approach, Family Systems Therapy, Person Centered Therapy, and Interpersonal Therapy. Sessions can also be provided in Spanish and Portuguese.
