Working With Trauma: Multi-Modal Integrative Psychotherapy

Presented by Monique Lang, LCSW on 01-22-2010 at 9 a.m. Pacific to 10:30 a.m. Pacific (1:30 p.m. Eastern)

Scientific research is increasingly showing that trauma is held not only in our "conscious memory" but in our physical body as well. As such, talk therapy alone has been shown to be less effective than the integration of various models to help clients recover from the impact of trauma, be it big "T" trauma (such as terrorism, tsunami, sexual abuse, or domestic violence) or small "t" trauma (such as car accidents, living in an alcoholic family, or surgery).

The purpose of this workshop is to provide clinicians with an awareness of a variety of therapeutic techniques such as meditation, body movement, art work, imagery, and visualization, as well as ceremonies to deepen and broaden their clinical work with clients. Topics to be covered will include what types of non-verbal therapy are easily integrated into a psychotherapy session.
