My name is Brittany Williams. I am an LPC in Virginia and I mostly use cognitive-behavioral therapy. I enjoy working with a wide range of people of all ages and conditions from kids to teenagers to adults to older adults, who are experiencing anything from depression to anxiety to life changes such as grief and loss or anything in between! I look forward to working with you! I usually use cognitive-behavioral therapy to work through thought processes and create behavioral change. I teach a lot of coping skills that we practice in-session and clients can then use them outside in real-life to create actual change. I have worked with clients of all ages but enjoy mostly working with kids and teenagers. I feel like they have a lot going on in life that is very difficult to navigate and can have a lot of depression and anxiety on top of everything else. I tend to ask a lot of open-ended questions. That gives the client an opportunity to go where they feel like they need to during a session, and I follow them there. I took an intro to Psychology class in community college and was hooked. I decided at that point to major in psychology in college and from there obtained my Master's in Counselor Education and went on to go through my counseling residency. I had a lot of grief growing up and when I was a teenager, everyone around me was dying and I wanted to be able to help people through that sort of thing when I got older, so here I am! We set goals during the first session, and look back over them during subsequent sessions to see progress and make sure we're on the right track. During a first session, I typically ask a lot of questions to get background information and learn who the client is as a person, and learn about their routine and symptoms. We also set goals and discuss any questions or concerns they may have about the process moving forward.
If you're looking for high-quality care with a Christian therapist, you've come to the right place! I am a Stanford and Berkeley-trained clinical psychologist, and my goal is to provide you with biblically-informed, evidence-based psychological services. That way, you don’t have to make a compromise between quality and your Christian worldview.

We believe we can each overcome life's challenges. We help you uncover your innate abilities so you can lead the life you deserve. As humanistic and cognitive behavioral therapists, we help you identify and become more mindful of the role unhealthy feelings, behaviors, and thoughts play in your challenges. This increased insight and understanding helps you live more flexibly, with greater compassion and authenticity. All clients are unique, and we customize our approaches to each client, integrating different modalities when appropriate. We are committed to a life of authenticity and to helping others lead the life that feels right for them, not the life others demand of them.
At Starobin Counseling we focus on helping people repair and strengthen their relationships with themselves and their relationships with others. We regard relationships as central to the therapeutic process. Some challenges in life are purely personal, but most problems express themselves in the intersections people have with other people. Therapy helps people repair their inner selves, often injured by relational ruptures, and learn and practice being in relational health with one another. Therapy helps people hear themselves think, experience feelings, gain new perspectives. We help people recognize and strengthen their own vitality and resiliency so they can unlock their capacity for compassionate and meaningful connections. We are a neurodiversity-minded, neurodiversity-affirming, gender-affirming, and culturally aware and sensitive practice.

There are times in all of our lives where we find ourselves at a crossroads. Do I continue on the path I am on, or is it time to pause, dig in, and face my fear, addiction, compulsion, hesitancy, anger, patterns, issues, struggles, etc.? This can be a very frightening crossroads, and having the courage to face ourselves, our past and what may be before us can be very fleeting. I meet people at this crossroads, and together we "dig in", and begin to explore what needs exploring, mend what needs mending, fight what needs fighting and forgive what needs forgiving. As they say in AA, I believe we are spiritual beings in physical world and as a Pastoral Counselor I am able and willing to explore how these two realities are integrated in our lives. Please feel free to give me a call with any of your questions or concerns.

Do you ever feel like there's an instruction book to life that everyone got but you? Does it seem like everyone else "has it all together" and you're just trying to fake your way through life? Not a good feeling, is it? Believe it or not, you're not alone, and you're not as bad as you think. You've learned ways to think and feel about yourself that made sense in the past, but they aren't working so well now. I specialize in helping my clients identify their unhelpful ways of thinking and feeling so they can choose to think and feel differently about themselves and improve their self-esteem. I also help clients to process traumatic experiences, both "big T" traumas (like combat, sexual and physical assaults, and car accidents), and "little T" traumas (like negative interactions that lead to a poor self-image). Contact me today so I can help you to understand why you shouldn't believe everything you think!

Therapy is a journey into a space where your feelings are welcomed and understood. Imagine a calm environment with soft light, warm air, and the gentle scent of lavender. This atmosphere provides comfort and ease, allowing you to settle more deeply into yourself. At the center is a mirror, not an ordinary mirror, but one that reflects your authentic self: vulnerable, radiant, and whole. In this supportive space, you are invited to recognize and accept all aspects of who you are, including your strengths, challenges, and areas of growth. Therapy becomes a process of healing and self-discovery, where you learn to embrace yourself with compassion and openness. With each passing moment, you feel yourself softening, embracing this mirror as it shows you who you truly are. And as you stand there, something shifts. You begin to uncover the pieces that make you whole, cherishing them, nurturing them, letting them grow. The journey of therapy is not just about healing; it is about discovering and embracing the profound beauty within you, piece by piece, moment by moment. In our first session, we will review essential consent forms and complete an intake questionnaire. This allows me to gather vital information about your unique experiences and needs, ensuring that our work together is tailored specifically to you. In subsequent sessions, we will collaboratively create a personalized plan aimed at helping you achieve your goals, fostering growth and healing every step of the way. You are not alone on this journey. I am here to support you in navigating the complexities of your life with compassion and understanding.
