My approach in therapy is collaborative, supportive, and goal oriented.
I see therapy as a process of discovery about you and how you relate to yourself and to the world. It is a process where, as I help you to talk about your thoughts and feelings, you can learn to create the life and relationships that really work. As we focus on the issues you bring to therapy, our talking will affect the ways in which you relate to the world and how you experience the ways in which the world impacts on and influences you. For some, therapy is about problem solving and may be crisis oriented. For others, therapy may be useful in dealing with difficult feelings like depression, anger or anxiety. Therapy can be helpful with relationships that are problematic. I have found that patients are often surprised to discover that the difficulties they have in one relationship have so much in common with other significant relationships in their lives. This may, for example, result in finding that problems one has in dealing with a boss are similar to those experienced with a partner or parents. It can be scary and exciting to become aware of how you (like all of us) repeat patterns that create limits for a more satisfying life. In our work you can learn to change these old ways of behaving. I work with a wide range of issues and specialize in working with young adults who have difficulties with separation and transitioning into adulthood and with parents who struggle with the separation and individuation of their children.
Battling anxiety day in and out is exhausting. You’re tired of imagining worst-case-scenarios and can’t seem to turn off the constant "what if" thoughts. Feelings of discomfort or panic may be leading you to avoid certain places or situations, and it’s difficult to make sense of why this is happening in the first place. Hearing things like, "it's all in your head," or "don't worry so much," makes us feel even worse, like somehow anxiety is our fault. I want to assure you, anxiety is not a choice or something we can just will away. If it was that simple, anxiety wouldn't be the most common mental health diagnosis in the entire U.S. So many of us have been there, including me! I want to help empower you to gain relief from anxiety and reclaim control of your life. Please know that positive change is possible, and within reach. Can you imagine the liberating feeling of making choices based on your values, rather than your fears? I specialize in helping people overcome anxiety and take back control of their lives. My clients often share how much they appreciate my authentic, warm approach, as well as the significant changes they've been able to accomplish through our work together. Contact me on Good Therapy or visit my website for a free 15-minute phone consultation. You can ask any questions and explore if I'm a good fit for you (if not, I'm always happy to assist with referrals). Anxiety is treatable, and you deserve support! While starting something new can be scary, I’m here to make the process as comfortable as possible.

Do you struggle with people-pleasing, perfectionism, and low self-confidence? Does imposter syndrome and fear of failure get in the way of your aspirations? You try to form deeper connections, but your relationships are filled with drama and people who lack emotional maturity, draining your energy and diminishing your self-esteem. If this sounds like you, I can help. Using mindfulness and holistic, body-based practices, I can help you develop tools for improving your mood and focus, helping you feel calmer and better equipped to overcome the effects of relational trauma and complex posttraumatic stress (PTSD). My style is holistic and relational, integrating somatic, psychodynamic, and experiential-based modalities through a trauma-informed, cross-cultural perspective. In our work together, you can expect a safe and trusting environment where you can explore the early life experiences and relationships that impacted your development and shaped your behaviors and patterns of relating to yourself and others. We'll work collaboratively to develop practices that nurture the mind-body connection, including meditation, visualization, and artistic expression, to find your voice, rewrite false narratives, and liberate yourself from the fear that fuels your shame. This approach emphasizes the importance of the therapeutic alliance in cultivating emotional safety, regulation, and mindful awareness. You'll feel supported as you learn to view your life through a lens of compassion and acceptance, empowering you to take control of your healing journey.

After nearly two decades in private practice, what I have learned most is that the human spirit is strong, resilient, and capable of greatness. It is this knowledge that keeps me eternally optimistic. Given the opportunity, I will do everything in my power to help you discover this truth for yourself. I specialize in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). The goal of CBT is to teach clients how to become their own therapist, capable of using a variety of coping strategies to effectively manage their feelings and reactions. Clients learn a system for restructuring negative thought, generating self-motivation, and changing unhealthy behaviors. I am committed to providing clients with the highest quality of care and service possible. This is not just a slogan that appears on my letterhead, but rather a self-imposed expectation that I strive to achieve every counseling session. This is evident in many ways including the numerous positive reviews provided by current and past clients.
