"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us....And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others." - Marianne Williamson. Fear of failure, fear of the past, and fear of the unknown can hold us back from becoming our best selves. Change is hard, and loss is even harder. Our thoughts and feelings can sometimes be so overwhelming that it seems hard to move forward in life. As a helping hand, I assist adults and couples who feel burdened by the challenges of life to discover and build upon their inner strength. I specialize in goal-oriented motivational enhancement therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy to assist those struggling with stress, anxiety, depression, and other conflicting emotions. Once you are ready to make the first step, please feel free to call or email to set up an appointment. I look forward to accompanying you on your journey of self-exploration and growth towards your self-identified goals.
Welcome! I’m Bridget (sheher). I am a licensed psychotherapist and nationally certified counselor licensed in Pennsylvania and Colorado. I specialize in working in perinatal health and wellness. This means I am certified and trained in working with those experiencing infertility, miscarriage, in vitro fertilization (IVF), pregnancy, and the postpartum period. I am passionate about supporting individuals and families during the transformative journey of pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period. My mission is to provide compassionate, evidence-based care to those navigating the challenges and joys of the perinatal period and beyond. In addition to my focus on maternal mental health and women’s emotional wellness, I bring extensive training in supporting individuals through anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, and neurodivergence. I draw from evidence-based approaches, including trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT), psychodynamic therapy, eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), tailoring each session to meet the unique needs of the client. My work is grounded in a strengths-based, compassionate approach that honors both the complexity and resilience of the individuals I work with.
I was trained in the 1980's in Transpersonal Psychology. It is a model that focuses on the interplay of Western Psychology and Eastern Religion and Philosophy. As a Transpersonal Therapist, I recognize that each person has the power to heal and transform their own life. My role as a therapist is to help facilitate this process. Sometimes our life experiences negatively impact the way we think and behave. By co-creating a safe environment where you will feel comfortable sharing your story, we will examine the thoughts and feelings you are struggling with and develop different more healthy ways of relating to them. As you become more skillful with relating to your feeling and thoughts, you will begin to make more healthy choices; thus creating the life you desire.
Are you suffering from depression and anxiety or dealing with trauma, grief, or relationship issues? Do you have a sense of emotional overwhelm that leaves you feeling empty and exhausted? Are you dealing with chronic health issues of your own or a loved one? Have the stresses of your life disconnected you from the joy you were once able to feel? The stresses of human existence can become too much to handle on your own. It is in these times that you need the support of a professional. I am a Licensed Psychotherapist, Registered Yoga Teacher, and Ayurveda Lifestyle Counselor. My unique blend of healing modalities called Holistic Integrated Psychotherapy brings a rich tapestry of knowledge to the therapeutic relationship. Merging traditional psychotherapy with yoga, meditation, mindfulness, and Ayurveda practices allows for a deeper level of healing for the mind, body, emotions, and spirit that one will not attain with traditional psychotherapy practices alone. These modalities are not just practices but ways of understanding how we as human beings relate to ourselves and each other. One does not need any experience with yoga to benefit from this mind/body/spirit approach, all you need is to be open to the connection between this trilogy. Holistic Integrated Psychotherapy will guide you to heart based healing. Begin your journey today. Contact me for a free telephone consult.
Change is something that we can always rely on. It will come into our lives whether welcomed or not. Being able to find inner balance and develop resiliency can help a person move through these changes. The start of this journey to establish inner balance, whether triggered due to illness, depression, anxiety, stress, or something else, can begin with outreach for support. I am drawn to the human spirit and I love working with individuals to fulfill their ultimate potential. I work to create a safe environment that allows for exploration and vulnerability, the emergence of awareness, strength, and resiliency. I believe that people need to be seen for who they are, and allowed the space to grow. A tree, no matter how confined, will still reach toward the sun. How do we all reach the sun? I believe we are all individuals, we see and learn differently, but we are all connected. Working together in a therapeutic space we can identify the sun and grow to the very best of our abilities. I was once told that, "there are no superheroes, just super hard tasks that ordinary people get through, manage, and conquer together." That is what we shall strive for together.
I work with children, adolescents, young adults, and adults. Some treatment approaches are play therapy techniques, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), the strengths approach, being goal-oriented, and incorporating mindfulness. For kids: incorporating activitiesplay to work with them in their own territory understanding. Children dealing with anxiety, sadness, feeling misunderstood, bullying, friendship troubles, family conflicts, attention issues, or not knowing how to express their emotions in a productive way, are all goals I look for. For adults: Going through stressful times and not knowing how to cope, feelings of anxiety, going through depression, having family or friend conflicts, or needing help understanding their own emotions and how to listen and fulfill their own needs are goals I look for. I will help by being a listening ear to whatever needs to be worked on or talked about in the moment. While listening, I will also incorporate the right amount of psycho-education on whatever is being worked on, so the client is well informed on how their mind and body work. This also includes teaching mindfulness techniques that clients can use in their own lives to better feel attached to their own reality. I also like to feed off the strengths perspective by helping clients realize their capabilities and strengths in their own lives. For children, these techniques may show in a different capacity for their understanding, but are still useful to incorporate. The use of play and activities will be used to help the child build rapport, trust, and validation through a therapy session.
