Helping people succeed in love is my life’s work. I’ve dedicated my career to teaching people relationship skills because I know that the quality of your life is determined by the quality of your relationships. We don’t thrive in love by chance. We thrive in love when we’ve mastered relationship skills. None of us are born with them, but all of us can learn them. Because they’re skills. And, as a practicing therapist, I’m licensed to teach those skills. I have a Master’s Degree from Columbia University and a PhD from New York University. I’m also the host of E! Network’s Famously Single and the former Global Ambassador to Tinder. I believe that the most important element to successful treatment is the connection between the client and the therapist. In my opinion, the era of working with a therapist with whom one feels no Earthly or human connection has passed. I pride myself on being real with my clients. I’m known as a relationship expert because the cornerstone of my methodology is helping you create thriving relationships in every area of your life. I do that by teaching you communication skills, emotional management skills, and socialization skills, *and I do this only with individuals. I'm currently accepting new patients.
My approach to therapy is Humanistic-Existential. Therapy in my view is a sacred journey to the core of one's being in search of meaning. Not unlike other explorations, here too, desire, determination, planning, and a roadmap are needed. Your therapist plays a critical role in planning and mapping your most crucial journey. There are times when psychological anguish has reached an overwhelming point by the time therapy begins. There, the 1st priority of therapy is to help the client to unpack the message enveloped in suffering. Therapy can help bring the realization that pain is the prelude to true awakening without which there can be no lasting clarity to light up your path in life. My beloved mystic, Rumi says it most eloquently in "only when you break you let the light in".
Life can be challenging, and it's okay to seek support when you're feeling overwhelmed or stuck. Whether you're dealing with physical symptoms or emotional struggles, there's often more beneath the surface than meets the eye. As a Biodecodage practitioner, I offer a safe space to explore the deeper roots of your experiences. For those with physical symptoms, we'll uncover how these might connect to unresolved emotional conflicts. If you're facing emotional challenges without physical manifestations, we'll work together to trace these feelings back to their origins so that they no longer trigger you. Through our journey together, we'll identify the root cause of recurring emotional patterns or conflicts. My approach is tailored to your unique needs, whether you're seeking more tools to tackle your physical symptoms or looking to resolve persistent emotional conflicts. Together, we'll work towards finding clarity, peace, and a deeper understanding of yourself. Remember, seeking help is a courageous step towards healing. Whenever you're ready to begin this journey of self-discovery and growth, I'm here to support you.
I believe the therapeutic relationship is paramount for treatment to be successful. I aim to create a safe, collaborative, and supportive environment to get to know you and develop our alliance. I join you on your life path with empathy and understanding. We will work together to move you forward in your health and wellness. Some modalities I use in my work include, Psychodynamic Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Trauma-Focused, and Strength-Based Practices. During our work together, you will be able to express yourself in a non-judgmental space. We will collaborate to establish goals during the course of treatment, such as developing coping skills, gaining insight into feelings, and attaining an overall sense of wellness. I will guide you in the direction you want go and help you recognize your strengths and achievements; therefore, using them to foster your growth.
I have worked with clients from diverse backgrounds with various presenting problems. I prefer working with individuals who are struggling with various life issues, particularly life transitions. My work with adults focuses on the challenges they may experience in life. Some of these pertain to identity development, interpersonal conflicts, sexuality, relationship status, religious or spiritual beliefs, anxiety, depression, racial or ethnic identity concerns, low self-esteem, and stress. I usually operate from a cognitive behavioral approach and I take into consideration the relational dynamic between the therapist and client in the room as well as the clients’ relationships in and outside of therapy. I work collaboratively with clients to set goals and have specialized training to work with clients of various religious backgrounds. I completed a Master of Arts degree in Theology and Ministry and a Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) degree in Clinical Psychology at Fuller Theological Seminary. I also previously obtained a master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling and have been working in the n the mental health field for over ten years.
I specialize in supporting those struggling with intimacy, relationship issues, addiction recovery, vulnerability, and life transitions. I offer a safe and judgment-free space where the healing process can begin collaboratively. My main goals are to help you rebuild your emotional wellbeing and to move forward toward a healthier, more purposeful life. In early work, you and I will center on how you take care of yourself; tracking immediate and tangible progress while also exploring and addressing the deeper roots of issues. Only when self-esteem and confidence are actively being built can one seek properly to help with the wants and needs of others. I have over seven years of experience as a psychotherapist. I am a lifelong New Yorker and earned my Master’s Degree in Advanced Clinical Practice from Columbia University, graduating at the top of my class. I worked for four years at NYC's Center for Intimacy Recovery, where I helped individuals and led groups overcoming barriers to connection and emotional closeness. I have substantial experience working alongside individuals in therapy dealing with issues related to intimacy, having accumulated thousands of hours of hands-on, client-focused experience. A large percentage of my clients struggle with addictions and impulsive behaviors. I use a two-pronged approach, asking, "How do we measure progress and how can we get there?" and "What are the roots of this issue?" The two blend to create a more promising journey ahead; one that wrestles free from repetitive patterns and starts to build more rewarding and healthier relationships — both with yourself and with others. I am one of only a few male practitioners in New York to hold a CPTT (Certified Partner Trauma Therapist) Certificate, trained to help partners navigate the complex emotions and challenges that arise from betrayal trauma.
I start with the belief that we all have an intrinsic ability to heal. Using awareness of body, mind and emotions, we can make our lives and relationships better, get unstuck from trauma, and learn to stay in the here and now. We can create greater regulation in our nervous systems. Instead of repeating negative patterns, we can build new pathways. My clients tell me that our work together helps them gain compassion for self and others, change long-standing patterns, connect with their body, emotions, and sense of inner goodness -- and simply feel more alive. I'm a Somatic Experiencing (SE) Practitioner and an SE Training Assistant. I'm also an Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapist. and a Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapist (KAP). Other modalities I'm trained in that are useful for renegotiating trauma are the Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP), Somatic Resilience and Regulation (SRR), and EMDR. I also use Theraplay and Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (effective for building parent-child attachment and parental leadership), and Sensory Motor Arousal Regulation Treatment (SMART). I'm a certified instructor of Yoga Dance and a Rape Crisis Counselor. I'm director of Mindful Therapy Brooklyn, a group practice. I created Starfish Body and Soul, a therapeutic movement program for trauma survivors.
I am currently taking new patients who are experiencing problems with work, school and/or relationships that are due to obsessive and problematic usage of internet/computer/video games. Depression and anxiety are often associated with excessive use of these interactive technologies. Within the past seven years, I have seen a significant rise in my practice in people who have experienced major difficulties that have been rooted in spending too much time online, or excessively involved in one or more forms of interactive technology (i.e., computer/video games). For some, it has to do with excessive internet surfing. For others, it may involve multi-user online games (e.g., World of Warcraft, Call of Duty). A growing number of people have reported spending ("wasting") hours upon hours on blogs, watching Youtube vidoes, and on Facebook, Tumblr, and other social networking sites.
Have you ever found yourself wondering, “Who am I?” or “What truly lights me up inside?” Do moments of feeling stuck, frustrated, or lost creep in more often than you’d like? Perhaps addiction, grief, or loss weigh heavily on your heart. My work is a gentle invitation to meet yourself with kindness and curiosity, offering a safe space to rediscover balance, safety, comfort, and joy—gifts that may be closer than you realize. In our sessions, you’ll find a warm, collaborative space focused on what matters most to you. I draw from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), internal family systems (IFS), and solution-focused therapy, tailoring each session to your journey. With years as a licensed social worker—and life shaped by fitness, education, and parenting teens—I bring expertise, lived understanding, and genuine compassion. If you’re here, you may be yearning for recovery, growth, or clarity, while also feeling some hesitation—emotions that are valid and welcome. We’ll move at your pace, building trust to uncover confidence and direction. If you’re ready to tap into your innate wisdom and self-compassion, I’d be honored to support you. Reach out to explore the next step.
I strive to provide therapy within an empathetic, safe, and nonjudgmental space. Together, we will explore the patterns, motivations, and emotional blocks that are preventing you from living contentedly. Whatever your challenges: anxious loops, negative thoughts, relationship difficulties, or stressors that come with transitions, including lifestyle, career changes, and postpartum, we will work through your experiences together. I understand that every individual is unique, and therefore I will create a therapeutic environment that is catered to your needs. My approach is rooted in psychodynamic therapy; however, I draw upon other modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and mindfulness techniques in order to address immediate discomfort, while also helping you gain personal insight that will lead to healing and growth. I graduated from Cornell University with a Bachelor of Arts in psychology, and received a master’s degree in mental health counseling at New York University. I welcome clients of all backgrounds and identities, and look forward to helping you on your path to insight and healing.
I work with clients to create an environment that feels supportive, helpful, and safe. I tailor the therapy experience to each person. Sessions can be whatever you need them to be in that moment. There's no "right" way to do therapy! I treat clients holistically, as I believe that physical, mental, and social health are all connected.
