Are you feeling emotionally overwhelmed or stuck? If so, notice that you've already moved in a positive direction by searching for a therapist to help you overcome obstacles and guide you toward greater fulfillment. Change is not always easy, but it is always possible. Often, uncomfortable feelings or aspects of ourselves that we'd rather not confront get in the way. We hope to protect ourselves through avoidance, and yet avoidance is often the very reason we can't move forward. Whether you're dealing with anxiety or depression, relationship difficulties, family conflict, life transitions, job or school stress, or painful experiences from your past, we can work together to address your concerns. We will uncover the meaning you attach to your thoughts, feelings and experiences so that you can consider alternative perspectives and choices to help you progress. I'll work with you to clarify your goals, identify steps to get there, and meet challenges along the way. We will take it one step at a time and work at a pace that feels comfortable to you. I invite you to take the next step to contact me via phone or e-mail, or visit my website: www.drleesaltzman.com and simply click the "Schedule a Consultation" link. I look forward to meeting with you to determine how I can help you get on track.
My therapeutic style is based on transpersonal psychology, which is solution-focused and person-centered. Each individual's unique physical, emotional, and spiritual needs are taken into consideration when developing a treatment plan, which includes combining a holistic approach with evidence-based practice. The goal is not to alter who you are, but adjust how you respond and be a guide. I work from a variety of validating approaches that empower and motivate people in the therapeutic process.

Talking about sex and problematic sexual behaviors is often stigmatized by society, family or culture. My main goal is provide a safe place where one can openly discuss sexual concerns and we can work together to determine if they are problematic or to discuss the impact of another's sexual behaviors on you. Too often, it is assumed that therapy around sexual addiction or sexuality is about stopping one's sexual behavior. Here, we work to define your sexuality as an individual. Work may include trauma focused work in order to gain access to underlying concerns, or it may involve sex education to best claim your sexuality. Working with loved ones of sex addicts, including parents, often includes shame reduction and healthy boundary work. Whatever the work is, you are part of the treatment team and the most important part of guiding therapy.
I have worked with clients from diverse backgrounds with various presenting problems. I prefer working with individuals who are struggling with various life issues, particularly life transitions. My work with adults focuses on the challenges they may experience in life. Some of these pertain to identity development, interpersonal conflicts, sexuality, relationship status, religious or spiritual beliefs, anxiety, depression, racial or ethnic identity concerns, low self-esteem, and stress. I usually operate from a cognitive behavioral approach and I take into consideration the relational dynamic between the therapist and client in the room as well as the clients’ relationships in and outside of therapy. I work collaboratively with clients to set goals and have specialized training to work with clients of various religious backgrounds. I completed a Master of Arts degree in Theology and Ministry and a Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) degree in Clinical Psychology at Fuller Theological Seminary. I also previously obtained a master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling and have been working in the n the mental health field for over ten years.

I was trained in the 1980's in Transpersonal Psychology. It is a model that focuses on the interplay of Western Psychology and Eastern Religion and Philosophy. As a Transpersonal Therapist, I recognize that each person has the power to heal and transform their own life. My role as a therapist is to help facilitate this process. Sometimes our life experiences negatively impact the way we think and behave. By co-creating a safe environment where you will feel comfortable sharing your story, we will examine the thoughts and feelings you are struggling with and develop different more healthy ways of relating to them. As you become more skillful with relating to your feeling and thoughts, you will begin to make more healthy choices; thus creating the life you desire.
You may be at a threshold, where the old ways of coping—over-functioning, perfectionism, people-pleasing—no longer feel sustainable. You’re longing for more authenticity, more ease, more connection to yourself and your truth. I work with those who feel called to go deeper—who sense their symptoms are not just problems to solve, but invitations into a more authentic, meaningful way of being.
