I believe that relational wounds heal relationally. As human beings, we are meant to live, grow, and heal in connection with others, and when that connection is broken or unsafe, it leaves a lasting impact. My work as a therapist is rooted in creating a safe, compassionate, and collaborative space where those wounds can be acknowledged, explored, and transformed. I take a holistic approach to therapy, understanding that mind, body, spirit, culture, and community are deeply interconnected. The hustle and constant demands of Western culture often leave us disconnected from ourselves and each other, and I believe that slowing down, reconnecting, and drawing on ancestral and cultural wisdom is essential to deep, sustainable healing. After serving in the U.S. Navy, I earned my Bachelor of Science in psychology from Fordham University and my Master of Science in marriage and family therapy from The Family Institute at Northwestern University. Over the years, I have worked extensively with children and families formed through adoption or subsidized guardianship, supporting them through attachment challenges, complex trauma, grief, anger, depression, and the unique experiences that come with these family journeys. My clinical work includes supporting intercultural and interracial couples, navigating complex family dynamics, and guiding clients through life transitions and first-generation experiences. I also work with women’s issues, anxiety, depression, and posttraumatic stress (PTSD), tailoring my approach to honor the complexity of each client’s identity and life story. I am passionate about serving individuals and families connected to the military, those navigating racial, immigration, and cultural identity challenges, and couples preparing for marriage or adjusting to new chapters in their relationship. My style is warm, direct, and collaborative—I meet clients where they are and walk alongside them with curiosity, respect, and optimism. No matter your story, I will honor your lived experience, invite your most authentic self into the room, and work with you toward the healing and growth you deserve. AAMFT Approved Supervisor Supervision is one of my favorite parts of being a therapist; it’s a space where growth, reflection, and authenticity meet. I believe the supervisory relationship is just as important as the therapeutic one. My approach is humanistic and relational, focusing on self of the therapist work, helping you feel fully embodied, confident, and at ease in your unique therapeutic presence. I see supervision as a collaborative and supportive process, where we explore both your clinical skills and your personal growth as a practitioner. I aim to create a safe, caring, and nonjudgmental environment that encourages connection, vulnerability, and curiosity. My goal is for you to leave supervision not only with practical tools, but also with a deeper sense of self-trust and confidence in your work. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, trained at The Family Institute at Northwestern University, where I earned my Master of Science in marriage and family therapy in 2015. I am also trained in Theraplay through The Theraplay Institute, and in Trust-Based Relational Intervention® (TBRI). My supervision style blends evidence-based practices with an appreciation for relational, cultural, and systemic influences, helping you integrate theory with your authentic self as a clinician. I love supporting therapists at all stages of their careers, and would be honored to be part of your professional journey.
My approach to counseling is a collaborative journey in discovering and exploring what hinders my clients from fully functioning, reducing the stress, anxiety, and negative symptoms that prompted them to look for help. Given a safe and supportive environment, clients can gain awareness and insight to make sense out of our life experiences. Making a decision to find help...and then being heard can be a huge relief, and is the gift of therapy. I provide distance (video) counseling! Whether you reside or work in Illinois or Florida, distance counseling is an effective and easy way to approach counseling without having to go to the counselor's office. If you are new to counseling, feel free to reach out to ask questions; if you are familiar with counseling - you know it can be a great experience.

I am a queer and neurodivergent therapist committed to creating a warm and welcoming environment free of judgment or pretense, where you may feel empowered to voice thoughts, express feelings, and be curious about yourself in a way you may not have elsewhere. I believe that each person has the ability to create their own meaning in life, and I am passionate about helping my clients uncover their unique purpose and potential. Together, we will work to address any limiting beliefs or patterns, as well as examine how past experiences and cultural factors have shaped your worldview and prevented you from living a more fulfilling life. In our work together, I invite you to speak candidly and explore your dreams and desires outside the bounds of rigid binaries and external expectations, without fear of criticism or rejection. Although opening up at times may feel difficult, in doing so, many experience an even greater sense of relief and fulfillment. Finding a therapist you can trust to accept your whole, complex being can be challenging, but finding your fit can be key to feeling supported in bringing your life and relationships to a new level. I would be honored to be that therapist for you. I look forward to supporting you on your journey towards greater self-awareness, resilience, and well-being.
My ideal client is someone who is ready to tackle things that have been weighing them down, wants to grow their tool kit and gain better coping skills. I accomplish this in therapy by using strength focused and motivational therapy techniques. I am currently offering virtual sessions and can be reached by email at nawal@noorpw.com.
Emotions are perfectly normal! The difference between feeling depressed or anxious comes from our interpretation of these very emotions. I work with adults, children and adolescents for couples or individual counseling. I appreciate working with young people by assisting them in understanding their emotions and what they mean. There are various therapeutic modalities I utilize, including art therapy, as a way to connect behaviors to feelings and sports metaphors for visualizing change. Using this process, my clients increase self-esteem and self-control. My goal is to uncover the strengths individuals possess even if the present life circumstances may feel overpowering. My approach with my clients is Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy. So what exactly does this mean? Simply put, our thoughts affect the emotions we experience every day. These particular thoughts reflect individual beliefs we have about society, relationships, career, love, family and general self-image. This process affects and motivates our behaviors. In our modern world, children grow up in a culture that is alien to most adults. My interventions help to create and facilitate effective communication methods so that this particular cultural divide is lessened between child and parent. I can truly teach you how. You and your child will be better off for it.
These are challenging times. Are you stressed? Are you having conflict with family andor friends? Are you depressed, unhappy, or experiencing low self esteem? Do you need more to feel fulfilled? Are you repeating unhealthy patterns? Many people drink more since the pandemic. The surgeon general indicated that most Americans have not fully recovered. Maybe that includes you. I believe we all have the right and the ability to reach our highest potential. Some times we just need a professional to help get past the fear, pain patterns, obstacles and learn new tools. In a confidential humanistic and holistic way, I work to draw out each person's Inner Resources and practice new tools to eliminate self defeating habit patterns and improve self esteem, mood and relationships. I would feel privileged to support and guide you in your journey of challenges. I would love to help you be your best self.
My approach to healing is rooted in compassion, empowerment, and a holistic understanding of the mind-body connection. I believe true transformation comes when we honor your unique experiences, fears, and aspirations with love, mindfulness, and a deep sense of self-awareness. I use a blend of somatic therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness, and strengths-based approaches to guide you through your healing journey. In our work together, I prioritize creating a safe, non-judgmental space where you can explore and process your emotions, integrate your experiences, and build a greater sense of resilience. Somatic therapy allows us to tune into the wisdom of your body, releasing stored tension and trauma. Through CBT, we’ll work to identify and shift unhelpful thought patterns that may be holding you back. Mindfulness practices help you cultivate awareness and presence, grounding you in the present moment with kindness and clarity. And using a strengths-based approach, we’ll focus on your inherent strengths and resilience to empower you as you move forward. Whether you're navigating life transitions, managing anxiety, or simply feeling "stuck," I’m here to walk beside you, offering tools, insights, and deep support. I believe healing is not linear, and it’s essential to meet you where you are, respecting your pace and your journey. Together, we’ll create a path forward that aligns with your values and supports your well-being. If you're ready to embrace healing, growth, and self-discovery, I invite you to reach out. I’m here to support you in creating a life of peace, purpose, and fulfillment. You don’t have to do this alone.

Healing lives within you, and together, we’ll help you reconnect with it. My approach is strength-based and tailored to you. Outside of session, I find joy in painting, walking in nature, caring for my animals, and connecting with loved ones. These simple things help keep me present and grounded so that I can show up fully for you. If you feel ready to begin, I’d be honored to walk this path with you. Let’s begin—whenever you’re ready.
