I have a direct approach to helping people find more peace in their lives. No matter the diagnosis or issue, I tailor my practice to meet you where you are, in each moment.
I work with teens, adults, couples, and groups by exploring problematic life areas causing concern with a goal of empowerment. Various types of therapy will be used in order to promote a positive life change. The hope is that by exploring new coping and relational skills, it will help move you closer to the life you want to lead. I am highly sensitive to individuals who have experienced childhood abuse, have spirituality concerns, and disabilities.
I am a relational therapist with 25 years of experience supporting and companioning adults of all ages navigating grief, loss, major life transitions, relationship issues, depression, and illness. I am a licensed clinical social worker, certified in drug and alcohol counseling. I have extensive experience supporting individuals with disabilities, substance use challenges, seniors, and chronic mental health issues. I support clients facing end-of-life issues with respect and compassion. I view my work as a calling. I approach the work of therapy with deep humility and respect. I honor the courage it takes to reach out and ask for support. As a therapist, my goal is to create a warm and safe space for clients to be able to explore their beliefs, challenge unhealthy thinking, and build healthier ways of coping and living. Through cognitive behavioral therapy and other modalities, I support clients to develop the skills necessary to thrive. My wish is for clients to feel supported by me as they grow and transition in their lives. I honor my clients’ successes as they move forward in their lives, embracing hope and possibility, while building foundations for future success. I look forward to hearing from you and being able to help you on your journey of growth and future happiness.
I offer therapy that helps you move forward. Whether you’re struggling with anxiety, navigating the everyday challenges of relationships, or searching for a more authentic and fulfilling life, we work together to uncover the beliefs and emotions driving your struggles - and then use your unique strengths to create lasting change. My evidence-based approach helps you clarify your goals and values, strengthen your “inner operating system,” and build a way of living that feels more resilient, joyful, and true to who you are. I hold a master’s in mental health counseling from National Louis University and have completed advanced training at the C.G. Jung Institute of Chicago, one of the few institutes in the U.S. accredited by the ABAP, the gold standard of therapy education. I love therapy because, for me, it’s a way to support you as you figure out what’s really and truly important to you. Essentially, we get to cut through the noise to find your life philosophy - and then together we figure out how you can live it. I work at Archive, a company dedicated to raising standards in therapy. We bring together rigorously trained professionals and provide therapy that is thoughtful, structured, and focused on lasting impact. Based on the idea that ‘you can only help someone as far as you have gone yourself,’ my colleagues and I seek to be on our own journey of growth, learning from great psychologists and great literature to bring perspective to our clients. At Archive, we believe that therapy is one of the most meaningful investments you can make in yourself.
My approach centers around ability to get and maintain a clear sense of self while you are in close proximity to a those who matter to you (whether you like them or not). The higher your level of differentiation, the closer you can get to others, because you're not afraid of losing yourself. It gives you a solid but flexible self, which allows you to make a decision to be influenced and to change (as opposed to having to change to stay on good terms with others). At high levels of differentiation, what others want in their life becomes as important to you as what you want.
During our initial session, we will discuss your specific needs and therapy goals while developing an individualized plan. Going forward, you’ll be supported and encouraged to explore thoughts, memories, and feelings, and invited to consider how memories and experiences are held in the body as sensations and emotions. This integrative approach can be profoundly effective in regulating symptoms and increasing tolerance of stressful interactions and events. In addition to talk therapy, you will be offered Jungian and mind-body approaches, such as eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), sandtray, guided-art therapy, trauma-informed yoga, and mindful, cognitive-based therapy. For couples, I use emotionally-focused methods for deeper understanding and meaningful communication. I explore a variety of courses, so I'm both up to date with current practices as well as building skills in mind-body approaches.

Do you feel unsettled in your life, but are unsure what would make you feel better? Is your relationship stressful? When we face daily challenges, our relationships with significant others, children, colleagues, and family can change. Sometimes we anxiously attempt to fix things. Other times we withdraw into our own heads. Although this approach is normal, it can be stressful to figure out how to move forward. My experience has taught me that having a neutral person with whom to discuss your struggles can be very helpful. You don't have to figure everything out on your own. Don't wait another day. Contact me to set up a meeting time. You don't have to deal with this alone. Together we can alleviate the concerns and stress you face. I look forward to working with you.
I believe each of us has the capacity for change and resilience. I foster optimism because hope is key for envisioning new possibilities in life, motivating you to try something new, or encouraging you to change your life and yourself. I collaborate with my clients to make sense of and explore issues with relationships, work, and school, as well as issues such as grief, illness, immigration or relocation, and other life changes. Beginning therapy is a big step. I honor the courage therapy takes by offering a safe space and attentively listening. I draw upon interpersonal, cognitive-behavioral, and psychodynamic techniques, and adjust my style to meet the individual needs of each client. I work with young adults, adolescents, adults, and seniors from a diverse array of backgrounds.
While they are a vital part of our lives and can bring us so much joy - relationships are complex! Think about it - although people spend years learning and practicing most key skills, many people have had limited opportunity learning about relationships and emotional skills. I work with people who are often very successful in many aspects of their lives, but who get stuck in emotional or relational patterns. They know they desire for things to be different and more satisfying but are not quite sure how to get there. That's where therapy can be a powerful platform for change! My goal is to create a therapeutic space where people can experience themselves and others in a new, more intimate, compassionate, and meaningful way. I then support clients as they do the essential work of translating these experiences to make concrete changes in their everyday lives. I've been both a therapist and a professor. New clients repeatedly tell me that they don't want to just talk but that they want to learn "tools". My background in teaching influences my ability to help clients master the tools they need to impact the changes they want.
In a society that emphasizes our unique differences, seeking out help and support continues to be stigmatized. Just as a tree cannot weather every storm that comes its way, neither can we, or should we, face life’s challenges on our own. As a Black, gay man from the South I’ve always been driven to help people learn how support informs us about our potential to access and achieve our goals. Awareness is the key. There is so much power in learning how our thoughts and emotions center not only our mental health, but through awareness we can learn about how our mental state affects our life in many ways. When we are cognizant of our emotions, we develop a deeper sense of self, and those perceptions of self can lead to growth in all aspects of life.
