With over 25 years of experience as a psychotherapist, I believe that the therapeutic bond is crucial to a feeling of safety that is necessary for healing. Because therapy is an intimate experience, I will tailor treatment with you, ensuring that your needs and goals are always prioritized. As we work together, I integrate techniques that are specifically designed to help you in both practical ways and in ways that create lasting change. I use my own personal qualities as a non-judgmental, warm and empathic person, and I will encourage you to be gentle with yourself as you go through the process of healing and change.

I utilize an authentic, easy-going and friendly approach to foster relationships to self and others. Individuals and families from 3 to 103 are warmly welcomed to work with me! Clients will be met where they are. I will work with you to collaboratively develop a tailor-made treatment plan that is as individual as you are. I draw on over 25 years of experience as a therapist to help guide you toward growth and resilience. The modalities of treatment that I utilize are CBT, DBT, Person-centered, Psychodynamic, and supportive. The issues I work naturally with are ADHD, Anxiety, Depression, Divorce, Emotional-dysregulation, Griefloss, OCD, oppositional and disruptive behaviors, Self-esteem, Stress and Trauma. Therapy may be challenging, but not boring. Creativity is mixed into treatment where it applies via art, books, guided- imagery, music, poetry, play and role-plays. All topics are invited to be part of the conversation.
We shall not cease from exploration And the end of all our exploring Will be to arrive where we started And know the place for the first time T.S. Eliot I believe that self-knowledge brings self-compassion. We are often our own worst critic and that internal critic can be a barrier to a stronger, more positive sense of one’s self. Understanding how you developed your own view of yourself and of the world is an important lifelong journey. Developing a coherent narrative, Identifying your personal patterns in relationships and how they often get repeated, exploring how your negative thoughts can impact your responses, and understanding enactments from the past within your relationships and how these may get triggered in present day life are important avenues to real change in your life. Gently exploring these aspects of the self within a collaborative relationship with a therapist in a warm, safe, nurturing, and empowering environment can move you toward a greater sense of self -acceptance and self-connection. Achieving these goals can lead to more authentic, connected relationships with others-which as human beings is what we all ultimately seek. Making the decision to enter therapy is one of the most difficult aspects of this journey. Taking this first step is often made in the context of a life crisis, dissatisfaction and chronic difficulties within important relationships, struggles with a life transition or developmental phase, depression, anxiety, and coping mechanisms that lead to self-sabotaging patterns. Difficulties in school, work, career choices or other important roles in life, dealing with aging parents, medical illness, and parenting concerns are some of the other life experiences that can also lead to considering seeking therapy. Often we struggle with these issues alone; fearful of vulnerability or shame or a lifelong pattern of doing things on your own and having a deep rooted struggle with asking for help. You are not alone.
You may feel stuck navigating anxiety, burnout, people-pleasing, or the pressure to always hold it together. I work with folks exploring who they are beneath the roles and expectations placed on them. Many of my clients are LGBTQ+ (teens and adults), neurodivergent, living with chronic illness, or healing from emotionally immature families. Together, we’ll create a warm, collaborative space where you can explore emotions, relationships, and identity.
I know life can be difficult and asking for help is a challenge. It takes courage to address things and make changes. I welcome you openly—listening to you discuss your scenario, with compassion and without judgment. I want you to experience a sense of support and safety through your process. I can meet you in-person in Madison, Wisconsin or utilize telehealth if that is more convenient. I am licensed also in Massachusetts, Maine, and Connecticut and welcome veterans and first-responders, as I have worked with that population for 20 years.
