Find Help For Anxiety, Depression, Obsessive Thoughts...More Obsessive thought patterns find you feeling socially insecure while those around you don't know it. This fuels your anxiety, which means that getting through each day can feel exhausting. It takes a lot of mental work to help you do life. The weight of this grows over time and weightiness turns to depression. It's hard to feel motivated when life feels like this much work. This cycle has it's moments of reprieve, but even those can't be trusted. It makes you nervous to feel better, wondering how long it will last. Let's Break The Cycle This cycle is all too familiar and you're ready for change. You've been working with this struggle for some time now. Maybe you've had help before, or maybe this is the first time you're looking into receiving therapy. Whether you know that trying therapy can be helpful or even if you are just beginning to consider it for the first time, you're a little discouraged that it's coming to this. You're wondering if this investment is really needed, or even worth it. After all, you're doing okay in school or work and you have relationships that are doing well with a support system around you. So you feel hesitant, you think you'll just keep trying. But that's when the cycle keeps going. When you've spent a large portion of time making life work for you it's hard to believe that going to someone for help will do much. It's hard to believe that there is someone who really gets it. Someone to help you sort out the feelings and thoughts, the overwhelm, and to help identify and tame the inner critic. Someone to help you find healing insights (that are already in you!) that will bring new, helpful, life-giving options. You're worth the time and investment of finding the life you want, the YOU that you want. Let's find out together if and how therapy could help you - call for a free consult.
I am a psychotherapist in the Ballard area and work primarily with adults in individual therapy. I hold a Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology from The Seattle School of Theology and Psychology and my approach is based on relational therapy and attachment-based, psychodynamic, and trauma-informed theories. My aim as a therapist is to help you come to the realization of being accepted as you are—fully, without judgment or restriction—and to feel truly seen, heard, and understood. Maybe you’ve noticed old relational patterns, shaped in childhood, repeating in your adult life, leaving you feeling disconnected, anxious, or stuck. You may want healing from wounds formed in past relationships and a new way of relating to yourself and others. You want to feel more genuine, confident, and free to live the life you truly desire. If our wounds are formed in relationships, they can be healed within them. Together, we’ll explore your story with compassion, uncover patterns, and begin healing what has kept you from the life you want. I provide in-person sessions and telehealth (when appropriate).

In therapy, I warmly invite you to find motivation and empowerment, helping you to uncover and build your inner strength. I believe a healthy and trusting relationship is paramount to creating a therapeutic environment in which growth and change can occur. My approach to therapy is integrative and often shifts based on the needs and preferences of my clients. Although I am largely conversational and process-oriented in my style, I can readily shift into evidence-based, behavioral, and skills focused therapy approaches to help my clients develop specific skills, as needed. I strive to help my clients explore the experiences that have shaped who they are and grow into the person they want to be. I have frequently noticed that all too often clients are overly skilled in identifying their flaws and shortcomings then quickly using this information to validate their negative and critical beliefs about how they are "not good enough." My work with these clients often focuses on challenging these overly critical beliefs so they stop being globally applied to who they are as a person while still being able to identify areas they still want to grow. Softening the critical beliefs about self improves our ability to see ourselves as deserving of love, care, and attention so we can provide space and opportunities to improve in the areas we are wanting change.
I am currently accepting new clients. Please contact me for a free 20 minute consultation. I work together with you to help you feel happier, healthier, and more balanced in your life, work and relationships. Every one of us brings a unique set of concerns and strengths to life; a counseling approach that works for one person may not work for the next person. That's why my approach is eclectic; so we can find the best therapy for you. Some guiding ideas in my work are to facilitate change by focusing on the here and now, using awareness and acceptance and building on the strengths that you already have. If you're in therapy you most likely want to change something about your life. Change comes naturally when there's space in your life. And that's what we do in therapy - we learn how to create spaciousness so that there's room to maneuver and skillfully address the issues in our life.
I consider therapy to be an alliance in which you and I work together to relieve unbearable aloneness, discover your strengths, encourage your innate strivings toward health and build new confidence in feeling and being in relationship. Every person has a need to be known and heard in an authentic, non-judgmental way. Every person has wisdom about themselves and what is needed to heal their lives. And fundamental to this, every person has the natural capacity for healing, for love and self esteem. In our work I may use a variety of tools and techniques to help move the therapy process but I recognize that change comes from the freedom to be and find oneself in the company of a trusted Other. There have been many influences on my thinking about therapy, most prominently my own life journey of healing transformation. Along the way Existentialist thought, Buddhist practicality, Relational, Experiential & Humanistic therapies have all made their marks. Participating in Nature?s cycles of change and renewal through gardening has profoundly influenced me. My experience as a parent, as a partner, as an artist has illuminated for me the endless horizons of human possibility. I will always talk with you about exercises or techniques I think might be helpful and, because our work is a collaboration, your agreement, choice, input and feedback is a necessary part of the dialogue of working together. Finding a therapist can be an intimidating process. If you would like an in-person meeting to decide whether I might be a good fit for you, I am happy to offer a 30 minute meeting at no charge. When you call make sure to specify if you are requesting this.
I specialize in trauma-informed care, using cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and compassion-centered approaches to support healing. Drawing from cultural relational theory, I incorporate cultural competence and awareness into therapy, ensuring your unique background is honored. My goal is to empower you with effective tools while fostering emotional growth and resilience.
I am a telehealth therapist and see people in New Jersey, Washington, and Maryland States either via video or phone sessions. My clients explore many facets of their lives with me, including their feelings of anxiety and depression. I also walk alongside people who are navigating their racial identity. Others are in a space of transition in their career paths and personal relationships. Finally, I specialize in working with people grieving a loss in their lives. No matter what your struggles are, my capacity to sit in difficult spaces with myself is the cornerstone of the work I do with those who engage with me in therapy. I believe the therapeutic relationship is a safe space to find healing through meaningful presence and attunement with another person. I seek to walk alongside you as you gain an understanding of yourself, your relationships, and your path in our world. I seek to hold a compassionate, expansive and open stance as I walk alongside you. I believe as we come to understand and heal our own personal narratives, we have the opportunity to see our changes ripple out into society as we wholly embrace the freedom of interacting out of our true selves.
Whether you’re looking to free yourself from the weight of anxiety, set healthy boundaries, better understand your reactions, or improve your relationship, quality therapy can make all the difference. I strive to create a therapy environment that is authentic, warm, and free of judgment so that you can get right to the important work of self-discovery and self-improvement. I provide both individual and couple therapy for adults, operating a fully Telehealth practice (all sessions are done via secure video calls). As a trained generalist, I am equipped to help clients facing a range of difficulties, such as anxiety, depression, and persistent anger. I also have specialized training in two evidence-based trauma treatments (Cognitive Processing Therapy and Prolonged Exposure) that are designed to help people take their power back from traumatic memories. With couples, I use a method of treatment called Integrative Behavioral Couple Therapy that works by guiding both partners past breakdowns in communication to come to a new, fuller understanding of each other and the relationship. I would be honored to help you cultivate the life that you want for yourself. Please reach out for a brief phone call to determine if we’d be a good fit.
