My communication style is to foster a safe place for open and honest communication without judgment.
I am very straight forward but tactful. I like humor and will use it to lessen the intensity if appropriate.
At Laurel Fay and Associates, my colleagues and I are committed to providing you with a safe, caring environment in which we can address your unique situation. By carefully listening, I work to get behind the everyday surface of a situation to the underlying meaning. My systemic approach means I look to the dynamics between people rather than solely focusing on the internal workings of one person. Even in individual work, this approach can be helpful and empowering. I often use humor to gently but skillfully pinpoint specific issues and highlight areas of growth.
Seeking therapy is difficult, and on top of that, trying to find the right therapist by clicking through profiles is daunting. Life sometimes presents us with challenges that leave us feeling out of control and unable to move forward. Therapy is about learning to speak about these issues, expressing your feelings, and learning healthy tools to cope and regain control. I bring experience working with diverse populations and issues, such as life transitions, depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, and career issues. As an immigrant, I understand the complexities of balancing cultures, navigating environments, and striving for success. I believe that you are the expert in your own life, and I’m dedicated to supporting you on your healing journey. My goal is to meet you exactly where you are and create a supportive environment where you feel comfortable discussing your experiences, needs, and goals. Using a holistic approach and mixed evidence-based techniques to manage symptoms and heal. My approach involves integrating evidence-based therapeutic practices to match each client, as everyone is unique and has their own demands. We will work together to identify core values, unconscious thoughts, and negative self-concepts to ultimately achieve personal growth. If you think we would work well together, please do not hesitate to reach out.
Welcome to my practice! Therapy can be a powerful tool in relieving distress, learning about oneself, and living a more fulfilled life. I believe that at the heart of successful therapy is a collaborative, open, and warm relationship. Through curiosity and acceptance, I help my clients gain more appreciation for their emotions, assist them in recognizing their strengths, and aid them in identifying opportunities for growth. I strive to help my clients obtain the tools necessary to overcome roadblocks, which often keep them from reaching their full potential. I work with clients from diverse backgrounds and life stages and welcome the opportunity to treat individuals facing a wide range of concerns. Given my training and experience working with adolescents, college/graduate students, and young professionals, I have a deep understanding of the challenges these individuals face as they navigate life transitions. In particular, I specialize in helping individuals with self-esteem concerns, relationship difficulties, depression, anxiety, trauma/loss, and disordered eating. Taking the step to begin therapy can be difficult. With the right therapist, however, therapy can be an important and rewarding tool to living a more satisfying, authentic, and fulfilled life. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Virginia. Born and raised in Iowa, I attended Iowa State University, graduating with a double major in Child, Adult, and Family Services and Spanish. I have traveled and lived in many places throughout the world, and have developed an appreciation for the differences we all have, but also the similarities that unite us. I received my master’s degree from Rutgers University. In my 18 years of work experience, I have worked supporting children, adolescents, and families. That experience includes working with trauma, depression, anxiety, school related anxiety and refusal, conflict between parents and children, involvement in the juvenile justice system, immigration stress and trauma, and crisis intervention. I have experience in child and adolescent therapy, family therapy, parenting, group therapy, and school-based mental health. I meet the child and family where they are on their journey and works collaboratively to develop realistic goals that will improve functioning in all environments. I utilize a strengths-based, solution-focused and family systems approach. I encourage children and families to share their culture and integrate the unique cultural experiences of families into treatment. I enjoy spending time outside, watching movies, reading books, and crocheting. I also enjoy various forms of exercise, like weightlifting and yoga. I enjoy watching (and sometimes playing) sports. I bring creativity and energy to my practice and am mindful and strategic about interventions used when working with children and families. Mental health is an important part of our being. Just like we eat food to feed our physical body, we must also get what we need to be mentally and emotionally resilient.
Maybe you find yourself caught in cycles of overthinking. Maybe you feel like you have to handle it all on your own, or you find yourself repeating old patterns in relationships that leave you feeling unfulfilled. You might feel stuck in a rut & unsure of how to move forward. That’s where I can help. I work with people navigating relationships, life transitions, and the practice of self-compassion—often while managing anxiety, self-doubt, or a desire for something more. My role is to help you connect with your own inner wisdom and move toward meaningful, fulfilling change. Paige views her work from a client-centered, attachment-centered, and strengths-based lens.
