Natasha is very laid back in sessions and will work to make you feel comfortable so that we can begin to build trust and hopefully have a positive therapeutic relationship.
I provide individual and couples psychotherapy to adults and adolescents. I use an integration of various treatment modalities within a psychodynamic framework, providing my clients with the flexibility of treatment specific techniques while maintaining a focus on the therapeutic relationship and treatment alliance. Having healthy, positive relationships is integral to all aspects of our lives. I treat clients with mild to severe disorders and work in collaborative relationships with psychiatrists when medications are needed. I specialize in treating mood issues, anxiety issues, relationship, family issues, trauma, and sport psychology (performance enhancement, injury recovery, etc.). Deciding to begin therapy and selecting a therapist can feel like a daunting task. Whenever we step outside of our comfort zones, it feels awkward and sometimes even scary. However, the old cliché is true, we cannot grow without change. Finding a therapist who can support you on your path towards growth is possible. If you are ready to receive the support and accountability needed in getting unstuck, feel free to contact me via phone or email.
At Power Counseling PLLC, we are five different clinicians. However, we have one thing in common. We are all committed to satisfactorily resolve the issues that the client brings to the therapy room. We work with individuals, couples, families and groups, offering individual, couple, family and group therapy. Our primary therapy modality is cognitive-behavioral therapy, but we also use solution focused therapy a lot. We are located in Washington DC, but we are licensed to practice in Washington DC, Maryland and Virginia. Our director also offers clinical supervision for those who need it. Now, we offer only teletherapy. We believe that people can change, and that therapy is about assisting clients with what they need to change so that they can lead a healthy life and achieve their life’s goals. We assist our clients to attain self-exploration, resilience, empathy, and emotional empowerment. We firmly believe in the inherent inner powers of each individual to heal. We believe that everyone possesses the necessary internal resources to overcome emotional difficulty and flourish in life. This belief guides our approach to therapy. We strive to empower our clients, in a collaborative manner. Our goal is to provide a holistic, solution-focused, empathy-driven, and emotionally empowering therapy approach. That way, we support my clients to achieve the goals for which they seek therapy. We adopt an inherently collaborative approach. It’s like a partnership in which the client has a voice and can set the agenda for the sessions and take ownership of the outcome of our work together. We empower clients to make decisions about their care, with our guidance. The goal here is to work with the client to identify and implement effective solutions to the issues that they bring to the therapy room. As necessary, we educate and guide our clients to use internal and external resources available to them to heal. We work to empower clients to make decisions and take actions that align with their values and aspirations.

My clients typically feel overwhelmed and unsure of how to move forward when they first come to me. I work with LGBTQIA+ couples, blended families, parents of children with ADHD, individuals recovering from trauma, and more. Through my unique approach, I help clients get to their unique goals, which often include things like less fighting, improved self-esteem, better relationships, more peaceful family dynamics and a more fulfilling life. I provide individual therapy (in person andor virtually) for late adolescents and adults in the greater Washington, DC area and I am PsyPact licensed so can see people in participating PsyPact states. I also provide comprehensive ADHD assessments. I have a particular passion for working with young adults who are figuring out and navigating their next "chapter" of life. I aim to help individuals capitalize on their strengths and work with their limitations, change their responses to interpersonal problems, and help them form new and improved healthy relationships and ways of relating to their world that does not repeat previously unhealthy patterns. By bringing support, encouragement, humor, and a nonjudgmental perspective to our work together, I meet clients where they are, whether they have been to therapy before or are exploring therapy for the first time. Knowing how important the therapy relationship is, my primary goal is to make my clients feel heard, understood, and hopeful. I adapt my approach and style, as needed, to work with my clients' unique needs. I am always happy to jump on the phone for a brief consultation to determine if we may be a good fit to work together.
I believe in the intrinsic worth of all human beings. I believe that many people do not see their value because it is overshadowed by the shame caused by their perceptions of who they should be and what they should be achieving. There are many reasons why these distortions exist; but one thing is for certain, it creates a feeling of being a fraud and deep shame. A lot of time and energy is used to counteract this secret shame. I feel that it is important to help teens and adults to become authentic and accepting of their strengths and weaknesses instead of putting our emotional and physical energy in denying and being afraid of our humanness. It is exhausting and paralyzing to be so afraid of our imperfections. I believe there is value in accepting our own humanity. We have to climb off our self imposed pedestal which is secretive and isolating and connect with other human beings without the fear of being discovered a fraud. It is so freeing and meaningful.
Seeking therapy is difficult, and on top of that, trying to find the right therapist by clicking through profiles is daunting. Life sometimes presents us with challenges that leave us feeling out of control and unable to move forward. Therapy is about learning to speak about these issues, expressing your feelings, and learning healthy tools to cope and regain control. I bring experience working with diverse populations and issues, such as life transitions, depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, and career issues. As an immigrant, I understand the complexities of balancing cultures, navigating environments, and striving for success. I believe that you are the expert in your own life, and I’m dedicated to supporting you on your healing journey. My goal is to meet you exactly where you are and create a supportive environment where you feel comfortable discussing your experiences, needs, and goals. Using a holistic approach and mixed evidence-based techniques to manage symptoms and heal. My approach involves integrating evidence-based therapeutic practices to match each client, as everyone is unique and has their own demands. We will work together to identify core values, unconscious thoughts, and negative self-concepts to ultimately achieve personal growth. If you think we would work well together, please do not hesitate to reach out.
