Tina Gilbertson, LPC

PLEASE NOTE: I'm accepting new clients for CONSULTATION ONLY (not therapy). Most estrangements between parents and their adult children are temporary. By "estrangement" I mean communication trouble that includes emotional cut-off, frequent tension or conflict, or a sense of growing distance between you. As an unwillingly estranged parent, your reaction and response to your child's estrangement can influence the eventual outcome -- for better or worse. I work exclusively with parents of estranged adult children, helping them invite re-engagement through understanding the underlying causes of estrangement, with compassion for everyone involved. I'm available for consultation on a one-off or short-term basis. Information is on the "Consultation" page at tinagilbertson.com. If you're suffering from severe feelings of abandonment, rejection, shame, or something else due to your adult child(ren)'s estrangement, I recommend exploring those emotions with a local counselor or therapist. Since this may not be your first experience with such feelings in relationships, your child's estrangement could present unexpected opportunities for emotional healing and personal growth. This website is a great place to search for a local therapist by zip code. Please refer to my book, "Reconnecting With Your Estranged Adult Child," or my podcast (The Reconnection Club Podcast) for self-help resources. At the moment I'm not taking new clients for therapy, and unfortunately I can't offer referrals to therapists who specialize in estrangement. See tinagilbertson.com to book a consultation (not therapy) appointment with me. If you're estranged from a child in someone else's custody, seek a "family reunification specialist" instead.

I work entirely online, via Zoom. Telephone appointments are available by request within the USA and Canada. For group-based education, including live online events with me and a community of other parents, visit my membership website at Reconnectionclub.com.
