Early traumas, like sexual, physical, and emotional abuse, parental mental illness, and addictions can have a profound impact later in our lives. When a client comes in complaining of headaches, neck and back pain, or stomach problems, it's often an indication of underlying issues. As we uncover the beliefs, behaviors, and feelings related to the trauma, the physical symptoms lessen. As we gather more information about how our experiences have shaped our thoughts, feelings and behaviors, we then can make better choices. It's empowering when you make conscious decisions based on more accurate information. It's not about re-living the trauma but rather about re-framing it so that your body and mind are no longer in pain.
