My Approach to Therapy

Is it hard to understand why you don't enjoy a sense of well being more of the time? Maybe anxiety or depression has gotten the best of you, and you need some help finding out why and how that can change. My work with couples and individuals is about helping to make sense of what is happening below the surface. Therapy with me would look like a deepening conversation that sets a healing process in motion. I bring to this conversation decades of experience, curiosity, intelligence, depth, kindness and empathy. I often hear that I'm easy to talk to. I have a strong sense of how race, culture, ethnicity and class can influence, and shape how we experience ourselves and others. I find that one's own culture is most strongly felt in multicultural relationships where suddenly what we thought was "normal" may be very different from our partner's perspective. I know that finding the right therapist can feel daunting. Sometimes it can even be hard to believe that there is help. So the first meeting(s) will be a consultation allowing us to see what it would be like to be in a process together. I am currently seeing clients both in person and remotely. Feel free to contact me with your questions or concerns.
