Many people still think that going to therapy means something is "wrong" with you. These are older ideas based on a shame premise telling us we must earn our worth, implying we're inherently unworthy. Thus, therapy is a big unknown for many, asking for help feels foreign, feeling like weakness and a false confirmation of unworthiness. Ironically, the opposite is true: we are worthy because we exist and therefore don't need to earn or prove our worth. This leaves us free to ask for help BECAUSE we are inherently worthy of all of our desires, including feeling connection to self and others, especially since separation is a mere illusion, albeit a very convincing one at times. Further, the more exposure we have to this normal avenue for improving our life situations and share these experiences with others, the more acceptance there will be in society, increasingly requiring less courage. Therapy is support, a helping hand, a tool, connecting with someone who can facilitate our progress in reaching our goals, being who we want to be, and freely feel as we want to feel. We all need each other in various ways. This can be a very powerful way for you to connect to yourself, others, and love. It makes sense to use a hammer to put nails on the wall as it makes sense to see me to unleash your magic.
