One of my highly developed skills is facilitating interpersonal group therapy. I have completed intensive group training, and have taught group therapy to students, developing therapists, and psychiatric residents. I have also presented on the subject at professional conferences. I believe strongly in the power of groups and have seen my clients that have the courage to enter my groups realize more profound healing, improved self-esteem, and deeper satisfaction in their work and intimate relationships.

One of the most common questions I am asked by a new client is how long it will take to resolve my issues and start feeling better. The answer to this question becomes clearer after I complete my assessment and come to understand the client's problems, personal strengths and resources in greater depth. Ultimately, the client determines when they have gotten what they need from therapy. Some clients get what they need in just a few sessions; others prefer a longer-term approach to healing and use therapy in an ongoing way to manage the emerging new challenges over the course of their life cycle. When the therapy relationship is strong, the client and therapist know when they have completed the work they set out to do. The frequency of therapy visits similarly varies. In the beginning phase of therapy, visits can be more frequent, but generally no more than twice per week. A typical course of therapy might be weekly visits for 3-6 months. Visits can gradually be reduced in frequency to every other week or monthly over time based on the client's progress and improvement in coping skills. Certain clients continue maintenance therapy, monthly, quarterly, or semi-annually.
