My Approach to Therapy

If you’re here, something probably feels heavy, confusing, or just not like you—and you’re ready for it to change. You don’t need the perfect words; you just need a place to land. I’m Dana, a counsellor in Grande Prairie, and I’ll meet you exactly where you’re at. My approach is warm, steady, and practical. In our sessions, you’ll find a calm space to breathe, make sense of what’s going on, and leave with tools you can actually use this week. We’ll start by clarifying what matters most to you—sleep, fewer arguments, less anxiety, healing after loss, parenting with more confidence—then create a plan that fits your life. I draw from evidence-based, trauma-informed practices and tailor them to your strengths, culture, and goals. I check in often, welcome your feedback, and adjust our work as life shifts. I support kids, teens, adults, couples, and families with concerns like anxiety, depression, stress, grief, relationship and parenting challenges, and life transitions (including Insurance Corporation of British Columbia (ICBC), Workers' Compensation Board (WCB)-related stress). If at any point another therapist would be a better fit, I’ll help you find that match—because the right fit matters. You don’t have to carry this alone. When you’re ready, I’m here.

My Practice & Services

If you’re reading this, something likely feels heavy, confusing, or just not like you—and you’re ready for it to change. You don’t need the perfect words; you just need a place to land. I’m part of Interactive Counselling’s Grande Prairie team, and I’ll meet you exactly where you’re at. My approach is warm, steady, and practical. We’ll start by clarifying what matters most to you—sleep, fewer arguments, less anxiety, healing after loss, parenting with more confidence—then build a plan that fits your life. I use simple, doable tools you can try between sessions, so progress isn’t just talked about; it’s felt. You can expect: Real connection. I listen closely, check in often, and adjust based on your feedback. Clear, usable strategies. Skills for calming your nervous system, communicating needs, setting boundaries, and navigating big emotions. Right-fit care. If another counsellor on our Grande Prairie team would serve you better, I’ll help you make that match. I work with children, teens, adults, couples, and families in the Grande Prairie area, supporting concerns like anxiety, depression, stress, grief, relationship and parenting challenges, neurodiversity, and recovery after motor-vehicle or workplace incidents (including Workers’ Compensation Board [WCB]). Sessions are available in person in Grande Prairie and online across Alberta, with daytime and select evening options. You don’t have to carry this alone. When you’re ready, I’m here.
