Talking about sex and problematic sexual behaviors is often stigmatized by society, family or culture. My main goal is provide a safe place where one can openly discuss sexual concerns and we can work together to determine if they are problematic or to discuss the impact of another's sexual behaviors on you. Too often, it is assumed that therapy around sexual addiction or sexuality is about stopping one's sexual behavior. Here, we work to define your sexuality as an individual. Work may include trauma focused work in order to gain access to underlying concerns, or it may involve sex education to best claim your sexuality. Working with loved ones of sex addicts, including parents, often includes shame reduction and healthy boundary work. Whatever the work is, you are part of the treatment team and the most important part of guiding therapy.

If you are looking to reduce anxiety, acquire healthy coping skills, and improve your relationships then you are in the right place. I am a licensed professional counselor, and I am passionate about helping adults and teens who are ready to process the deep inner conflicts to stop self-sabotaging. As your therapist I can help you see these patterns and also assist you in creating a roadmap to achieving sustained and meaningful change. I specialize working with individuals seeking support for anxiety, trauma, depression, and low self-esteem. The majority of my practice focuses on helping individuals who may present as successful but internally you may feel deeply ashamed or unsettled in life. I practice a modern and relatable approach to therapy and tailor my skills to your specific needs. I integrate affirmation, challenge, humor and a direct and honest approach in my sessions. I have a background as a board-certified art therapist and supporting individuals who have an interest in using art-based processing to aid in their coping. I have a deep understanding of the value of using approaches that are not only limited to talk therapy. In a lot of ways, our earlier adaptations work against us, so changing our habitual patterns of acting and relating to others is effortful and requires a lot of practice. This type of change can be challenging and come at a slow pace, and I honor that in my sessions by working towards building a strong and safe therapeutic relationship.

We are located in Washington DC, but we are licensed to practice in Washington DC, Maryland and Virginia. Our director also offers clinical supervision for those who need it. Now, we offer only teletherapy. We believe that people can change, and that therapy is about assisting clients with what they need to change so that they can lead a healthy life and achieve their life’s goals. We assist our clients to attain self-exploration, resilience, empathy, and emotional empowerment. We firmly believe in the inherent inner powers of each individual to heal. We believe that everyone possesses the necessary internal resources to overcome emotional difficulty and flourish in life. This belief guides our approach to therapy. We strive to empower our clients, in a collaborative manner. Our goal is to provide a holistic, solution-focused, empathy-driven, and emotionally empowering therapy approach. That way, we support my clients to achieve the goals for which they seek therapy. We adopt an inherently collaborative approach. It’s like a partnership in which the client has a voice and can set the agenda for the sessions and take ownership of the outcome of our work together. We empower clients to make decisions about their care, with our guidance. The goal here is to work with the client to identify and implement effective solutions to the issues that they bring to the therapy room. As necessary, we educate and guide our clients to use internal and external resources available to them to heal. We work to empower clients to make decisions and take actions that align with their values and aspirations.
