I help people to be better focused, motivated, organized, and thrive in life. I specialize in attention-deficit hyperactivity (ADHD) and executive function challenges (i.e., time management, organization). I often blend traditional psychotherapy with executive function coaching. Through this, I help clients to better understand their difficulties, as well as take concrete steps and actions to make tangible changes in order to see the improvements that they desire. With Psypact, I can see clients in 42 states. With kids and teens, this often involves helping them plan out homework assignments, use a task list or calendar, and better understand how to manage their time, and address challenges with this, such as distractions. For adults, this may involve helping them plan out and execute work tasks, household chores, keeping themselves organized to know where they need to be and when for their kids, and more. In addition to psychotherapy, coaching, and attention-deficit hyperactivity (ADHD) testing, I run an executive functioning boot camp. This is a two-hour intensive 1:1 or family session geared towards helping kids, teens, and adults jump-start or fine-tune strategies and tools. We work together to make a comprehensive plan of what to do going forward, and set up tools as feasible during the session. Obviously, follow-through is crucial, and can be even harder than knowing what to do. We work on this during the session, and follow-up appointments are also available to assist with this.
Life can present you with difficult situations which are hard to process and move past. These challenges are not on your timeline and affect everything. Having worked in many healthcare settings, I am familiar navigating life-changing events and grief. I understand the territory of encountering loss, coping with trauma, the complexity of the medical system and living with illness. Together we will face any changes, fears, anxiety and emotions you are experiencing, allowing you to gain more grounding and peace. I will work with you from an integrative, holistic approach to determine together what is needed for your coping, healing and self-care.
Because therapy is not “one-size-fits-all,” our sessions will be adapted based on your specific needs, tailoring the sessions to align with your goals. No matter the challenges you are experiencing, I am committed to collaborating with you on your journey toward your best life. With time and therapeutic support, we can all heal, achieve growth, and become the best versions of ourselves. My mission is to create a secure and empathetic space where you can openly express yourself, gain intrapersonal insight, and feel truly heard. If you are ready to embark on a path of healing, growth, and self-discovery, I am here to support you. We will utilize an eclectic approach of therapies, drawing from solution focused, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) to name a few. Incorporating a holistic perspective, we will consider the impact that past experiences, trauma, and the body have on your life and work toward lasting change. I look forward to working with you and beginning this compassion filled and judgement free journey toward your inner peace.

At Starobin Counseling we focus on helping people repair and strengthen their relationships with themselves and their relationships with others. We regard relationships as central to the therapeutic process. Some challenges in life are purely personal, but most problems express themselves in the intersections people have with other people. Therapy helps people repair their inner selves, often injured by relational ruptures, and learn and practice being in relational health with one another. Therapy helps people hear themselves think, experience feelings, gain new perspectives. We help people recognize and strengthen their own vitality and resiliency so they can unlock their capacity for compassionate and meaningful connections. We are a neurodiversity-minded, neurodiversity-affirming, gender-affirming, and culturally aware and sensitive practice.
I work with clients from a wide variety of backgrounds, who have all come to a shared realization: that their way of living is no longer working for them. Whether you are struggling with addiction or depression or find yourself experiencing relationship difficulties, you aspire to something new; something more. Together we identify the nature of your particular dissatisfaction, discover how you got here, and develop a more desirable and sustainable way of life. I believe that my role is to be a nonjudgmental companion to you on your unique journey of self-discovery and profound change.

I began working in this field almost 30 years ago because I wanted to make a tangible difference in people's lives. Over the years, I have worked with countless individuals, couples, families, and groups to help them improve their quality of life. Through my experience, I have learned that: Although many may appear to be similar demographically in terms of age, race, gender, socioeconomic status, religion, etc., everyone brings hisher own individual histories to therapy -- histories that distinguish each client as a unique individual. As a result, I welcome all clients, and I recognize that each client will bring hisher own history and values to therapy. I commit to working within each individual's system of values as I try to help the individual draw from hisher history to improve hisher quality of life. My two primary metrics are: a) tangible improvements in an individual's life, and b) the individual's feelings and understanding regarding change and the process of change. Like physical therapists and coaches who are willing to challenge their athletes to perform at full potential, I am willing to challenge my clients to reach their full potential in life. But my guiding philosophy is: "challenge by choice" -- I will only as far and as fast as my clients are comfortable.
