I specialize in individualizing care to your needs and have over 36 years of healthcare experience in multiple specialties. I am passionate about helping people achieve an exceptional life by teaching them how to apply both nonpharmacological skills and best practices for utilizing psychiatric medications. To effectively move through the difficulties life throws at us, it takes a wide variety of tools, individualized to meet our personal situations. I have successfully used an eclectic variety of methods that empower personal growth, bring back the strength needed to meet the demands in our lives, and move people away from suffering and toward a higher level of well-being. All this is achieved through techniques that expand consciousness and awareness, such as cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical distress tolerance tools, stress management, assertiveness skills, experiential learning, mindfulness cognitive therapy, solution-focused brief therapy, clinical hypnotherapy, positive psychology concepts, and the use of prescription psychiatric medications.
In session I am active and conversational, I offer feedback with empathy and collaborate with my clients on setting goals. I am passionate about using innovative techniques to treat anxiety and trauma including EMDR. I have received specialized training in sex and couples therapy in order to offer people a specific approach to communicating. I enjoy working with individuals and couples helping them to overcome relationship issues as well as sexual issues that may be affecting their quality of life. I have over 10 years experience as a therapist and love the work that I do. I have found now more than ever that people are coming to therapy with a lot of fear and uncertainty. Fear and uncertainty can block people from making changes in their lives. It's hard to make decisions when you're afraid. Fear can also happen when you're getting closer to what you want. My work is to help you discern between the two. I believe everyone's needs are different and want to work together to help people improve their lives. Everyone deserves to to be happy, healthy and whole!
Do you sometimes feel like you’re your own worst enemy? Struggling to find compassion and patience for yourself, and maybe others too? Perhaps you’re navigating neurodivergence in an unwelcoming world, facing disconnection in your romantic (or platonic) relationships, or trying to get to know who “you” really are and find meaning in your life. It can feel overwhelming and, at times, impossible to know how to respond to challenges and changes in and around you. With therapy, you don’t have to figure it out alone. You can be seen, heard, and understood without judgement and with authenticity. Through collaborative therapeutic approaches and adaptable techniques, I look forward to witnessing your journey toward wellness and supporting your autonomy and growth. Your well-being and autonomy are my first and foremost priorities. I believe all individuals deserve empathy, understanding, and the opportunity to pursue growth and healing. You are the expert in your own experiences, and I will treat you as such. I use a variety of techniques and styles in my therapeutic work with clients, following an “eclectic” approach that I am continually tuning to best meet the needs of each individual or relationship I work with. Some of the foundational therapeutic frameworks I use include feminist, psychodynamic, narrative, and somatic work. I always encourage my clients to share feedback about what they feel works best for them in sessions, so we can collaborate on the healing process as equals.
Seeking a counselor is the first step, and a great beginning, on the journey toward regaining control over how you feel and how you interact with others. My work focuses on helping clients increase awareness and insight, develop skills, heal, and grow. Ultimately, achieving a renewed sense of energy, balance, and personal empowerment. Concerns of notable interest to me are related to relationships (romantic or friendship-based), communication, confidence or ego-strength issues (self esteem), life transitions, and-or getting 'unstuck' from patterns. I believe that our expectations get in our way of truly being free to enjoy who we are and how we live; and believe distractions are often unseen and often sabotage our goals. My therapeutic style is warm, collaborative, and straightforward, with some levity (humor). I work with individuals and couples for brief work as well as long-term, more in-depth, therapy. I thoroughly enjoy the process of learning about people - what makes you, you? I find blending conversations around what isn't working with those around strengths - often those that have been ignored, clouded or lost over time - is a great way to become reacquainted with yourself. Learning about yourself, and about what makes you tick, can be a helpful exercise. It often leads to a different perspective, which can profoundly affect the way you communicate and attach to others (partners, friends, children, etc.), your ability to empathize, your sense of empowerment, and confidence. I believe the clarity you seek is possible. I consider it a privilege to be your therapist, and to work with you toward the goals you have in mind. I am an in-network provider on some insurance (not paneled with OHP or Apple, nor Medicare or Medicaid).

I specialize in working with youth who are struggling with behavior problems at home or school. In addition to this specialty I also enjoy working with people who are struggling with anxiety, depression, relationship problems and spiritual issues. Let's get unstuck. Let's make some progress.
My goal is to create an empathic, collaborative, and reflective space where clients can feel comfortable exploring their concerns and goals. I am invested in hearing the experiences and world views of each individual client, providing a space to unpack and reflect on topics brought to session, and recognizing each client's intersecting identities. I work with adults ages 18+ who are seeking support related to trauma, grief and loss, self-esteem issues, communication, and depression. I am committed to supporting individuals in the LGBTQ+ community, BIPOC, and people who are working on personal growth or enhanced self-awareness.
I am the director of MacPherson Pacific Counseling Services, a dynamic new option in the treatment of chemical dependency, problem gambling, and sex addiction in the Seattle area. Your experience will be individualized and goal-focused. You will develop the tools to reclaim your life from addiction and compulsive behavior and begin to develop a path towards healing and wholeness for both yourself and your support network of family and loved ones. In both individual sessions and groups with others also walking the healing path you will challenge yourself, access reservoirs of strength within yourself, learn to connect, and you will grow.
We seek therapy in order to decrease suffering. My commitment is to aide you in achieving this goal. Where we focus-- whether that's on your current experience, on your early attachment to caregivers, or on developing effective coping skills-- depends on what you feel is most important. This is one of the things we address in our first consultation. Often we carry the solutions to our problems within ourselves. My work is to elicit these solutions. I approach this by seeking to increase both your and my awareness. Our awareness of where things in your life come from, what purpose they're trying to serve, what your values are, what works for you and what doesn't work so well. Therapy is deeply collaborative. It requires your sense of being safe and free from judgment as much as it does my compassion and training. It can be one of the most creative works in a person's life, in which they take an active and effective hand in making that life. I look forward to working with you.
