I take a person-centered approach to treating clients who feel like their previous counselor was not listening to them or new clients who just need someone to talk to. I engage clients in open and candid conversations about their concerns. When I first see a new client, I take the time to listen to their whole story of why they are seeking my services. I engage the client by reflectively listening to their concerns, and through reflective listening, they are able to answer the questions they have on their own. I will also utilize other techniques (like CBT or mindfulness exercises) if I feel it is necessary.

I am a licensed internationally & board recognized trauma therapist. I specialize in working with angry, oppositional, depressed, anxious, or suicidal youths. My goal is to build rapport with the child and parent to help foster open communication, exploration of challenges, and growth. My approach is to support, educate, and guide as needed. I also offer assistance to: - Parents needing skills (communication, parenting, etc) -Young adultscollege students with a trauma history - Young adults or college students struggling with finding their niche or identity -Young adults or college students experiencing depression or anxiety -Families struggling with at-risk youths (i.e., teens engaging in delinquent behaviors) -Youths being released from residential treatment facilities - Youths with severe mental illness (i.e., bipolar disorder, psychotic symptoms) In therapy I focus not only on validating your experiences (as appropriate), but also exploring challenges of living (i.e., transitions or changes, family difficulties, loss and grief, suicidal thoughts, questioning of faith or spiritual meaning, low self-esteem, culturally related challenges, healing from trauma or abuse, etc) and how they are affecting you. We all face these things, but how we cope with them is the most important part of therapy. My main goal with all of my clients is to hear their individual stories and design a therapeutic approach based on the joint efforts of therapist and client. Each session focuses on building personal insight, spiritual awareness, and concrete tools for coping, adjusting, or changing.

I conceptualized counseling via a humanistic lens, as I believe that not one person has the same experience, thus my work emphasizes and celebrates the uniqueness of every person. By creating a supportive environment for all thoughts and feelings, I encourage my clients to be present as their authentic selves. Through an inegration of narrative therapy, motivational interviews, and acceptance and commitment therapy, I am able to engage with my clients on topics related to their past, present, and future. Therefore, promoting insights and motivations to assist my client in determining how they wish to progress and enhance their lives through goal-oriented actions.

I work with young adults, children, adolescents, couples, families, and individuals. The adults with whom I work are smart and successful, but need help addressing one or two areas of their lives that aren't working. I partner with these clients to help them shape better personal lives, careers, and relationships. The children, young adults, and adolescents we work with come from loving families who want to help their children be successful adults. I'm delighted to help my clients learn skills that help them navigate their current life stage, while preparing them for the next stage.

I am a clinical psychologist with a deep interest in helping those suffering from depression, trauma, relationship troubles, and anger issues. I have a passion for exploring aspects of life and patterns of behavior that prevent people from feeling able to handle day-to-day struggles. For over 20 years I have been helping individuals improve their lives and achieve their goals. Collaboratively, I will work with you to develop psychological tools to allow you to handle conflict better, to feel better, and to gain a better understanding of yourself. In my office, you will find a caring, safe, and confidential environment in which you can talk freely about the difficulties that confront you. I focus on creating a space and relationship that will allow you to be heard. I understand the impacts of difficult life events and among others have experience dealing with repercussions of alcoholism. Together we can work to manage your conflicts and towards feeling more alive.
