My approach in therapy is collaborative, supportive, and goal oriented.
My approach in therapy is collaborative, supportive, and goal oriented.
My approach to healing is compassionate, collaborative, and rooted in evidence-based care. I use cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), exposure and response prevention (ERP), and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) to treat anxiety, obsessive-compulsive (OCD), depression, stress, and life transitions. Therapy with me offers practical coping tools, deeper self-awareness, and strategies to break unhelpful patterns. I provide a safe, supportive space where you can feel understood, reduce symptoms, and build resilience, balance, and lasting change for a more fulfilling life.
My treatment approach focuses on helping individuals and couples identify the thoughts and feelings that impede their relationships and potential for peace. I incorporate family history to enhance understanding of how people arrive at their stuck places and why they make sense and yet get in the way of the relationships they want and of their potential for self actualization. My work with couples focuses on helping couples to recognize and honor the family triggers we all bring to relationships and work with each other to create a relationship that heals rather than adds to the hurt places we all have. My individual therapy allows people to identify their stuck places and the origins in their family history and move toward forgiveness and acceptance. The model allows individuals and families to see how their symptoms make perfect sense yet they are not working in the sense that they impede the peace we all want in our lives.
Are you searching for more meaning to your life? Have you come to a decision that involves living your life more authentically? Our personal experiences may contribute to patterns of behaviors or thoughts that leave us constantly feeling emotionally tired. At some point, we may begin to feel that there is something missing from our lives. I provide psychotherapy for people experiencing difficulties related to life transitions, depression, anxiety, ADHD, autism, anger, sexual orientation, gender identity, relationship conflicts, and trauma. I also work with patients to find meaning through dreamwork and Jungian sandplay therapy. Throughout this journey, I will provide a safe space for you express your thoughts and feelings. I see adults, children (10+), and adolescent patients. Children express themselves through play, this is why I utilize play therapy for younger patients. Children have opportunities to play games, create art, and participate in sandplay therapy by creating their world in a sand tray. I understand that the process to find a psychotherapist may feel like an overwhelming task. The positive is that there are so many therapists to choose from. The challenge is to find the right one for you or your child. This is one of the reasons that I provide a free phone consultation prior to scheduling an initial appointment. This time will allow you to ask questions about my practice, and I will be able to learn a bit more about your needs. Please go to my website to book your 15-minute phone consultation today.
I specialize in providing traditional psychotherapy with an integrative, holistic approach. I believe the mind and body are inexorably entwined, with each affecting the functioning of the other. I strive to provide a warm, supportive space in which we can create a plan to improve whole-person wellness and self-care.
If you are trying to manage feelings associated with anxiety or depression due to a difficult life circumstance or a past trauma, I will provide you with the knowledge and emotional support you need to help you understand yourself and the issues that bring you to therapy. From a gentle and caring perspective, I integrate leading evidence-based practices within a mindfulness framework to offer you greater awareness and the possibility to make the changes that you are seeking. I offer a complimentary 15-minute phone consultation so that we can discuss your situation and how my approach may be of help to you.
I am currently taking new patients who are experiencing problems with work, school and/or relationships that are due to obsessive and problematic usage of internet/computer/video games. Depression and anxiety are often associated with excessive use of these interactive technologies. Within the past seven years, I have seen a significant rise in my practice in people who have experienced major difficulties that have been rooted in spending too much time online, or excessively involved in one or more forms of interactive technology (i.e., computer/video games). For some, it has to do with excessive internet surfing. For others, it may involve multi-user online games (e.g., World of Warcraft, Call of Duty). A growing number of people have reported spending ("wasting") hours upon hours on blogs, watching Youtube vidoes, and on Facebook, Tumblr, and other social networking sites.
