Taking the challenge to engage in the therapeutic process means being able to prioritize your own needs and desires, so that you can be more engaged with yourself and lead a life that you find fulfilling and rewarding. I believe that real change happens when we connect our minds with our bodies. It is my role as your therapist to help you understand these challenges and to work through issues together. I also have a creative arts background and have worked extensively with individuals struggling with creativity. I work on Zoom, telephone, and in person. My office for in-person therapy is located within a suite with other offices. It is not accessible for people with physical disabilities. My office hours begin at 9:00 a.m. and go through 7:00 p.m. I am flexible on Saturday and Sunday, if needed. I think it is important to have a ‘trial’ session to see if we can work together. During these trial sessions, it will allow the person and me the opportunity to see if we can establish a working relationship.
I truly believe in connecting with my clients based on where they are in life and understanding the unique stories that shape each person. By working closely together, I help my clients find practical solutions while honoring their personal stories. I see every challenge as a chance for personal growth. with the awareness that people are doing the best they can and aiming to keep getting better.
I subscribe to a holistic approach when it comes to therapy. By that I mean that I'm interested in understanding you as a complete person, rather than just a collection of symptoms or problems. I'm not interested in gathering information from you to support a specific diagnosis. Instead, I want to hear your unique story, so I can see life through your eyes and gain a better understanding of what makes you tick (as well as what might be ticking you off at the moment). Once we identify those factors, we'll have a better grasp on how to get you to a better place mentally and emotionally.

Are you a man who is really hard on himself? Are you exhausted trying to keep everyone happy? Overwhelmed by work, family or other demands? You could be someone questioning life decisions (getting caught in "I wish I had done..."). You could also be someone who is anxious or obsesses and unable to stop the cycle. We will work as a team to uncover tools and gain insight to improve the quality of your life. I provide a judgement-free, supportive space for men. I also work with many men who are pursuing counseling for the first time. For over 20 years, my career reflects a commitment to helping others. I had the honor of receiving the 2007 WBJ Healthcare Hero award for my work in an ER (learn more at website link). Please note: At this time, I do not work with persons dealing with current legal issues. Call or email me to set up a free phone consultation.
I work with children, adolescents, young adults, and adults. Some treatment approaches are play therapy techniques, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), the strengths approach, being goal-oriented, and incorporating mindfulness. For kids: incorporating activitiesplay to work with them in their own territory understanding. Children dealing with anxiety, sadness, feeling misunderstood, bullying, friendship troubles, family conflicts, attention issues, or not knowing how to express their emotions in a productive way, are all goals I look for. For adults: Going through stressful times and not knowing how to cope, feelings of anxiety, going through depression, having family or friend conflicts, or needing help understanding their own emotions and how to listen and fulfill their own needs are goals I look for. I will help by being a listening ear to whatever needs to be worked on or talked about in the moment. While listening, I will also incorporate the right amount of psycho-education on whatever is being worked on, so the client is well informed on how their mind and body work. This also includes teaching mindfulness techniques that clients can use in their own lives to better feel attached to their own reality. I also like to feed off the strengths perspective by helping clients realize their capabilities and strengths in their own lives. For children, these techniques may show in a different capacity for their understanding, but are still useful to incorporate. The use of play and activities will be used to help the child build rapport, trust, and validation through a therapy session.
