Offering a warm, nonjudgmental space where your voice matters.
I have been a Psychologist and Marriage and Family Therapist for more than 25 years. I offer family, individual, marriage, and couples counseling. I specialize in anxiety, mood disorders, depression, and relationship and family conflict. I am licensed in Nevada and California.
There are times in life that we might find ourselves feeling lost or disconnected from ourselves or the world around us. It feels isolating and confusing to notice a change is needed… a new path is to be embarked upon… but there are only signs with no directions. I have personally felt frustrated by this, and instead of asking for directions, I ran away from the needed change out of confrontation with the unknown, only to find myself back at where I started. What I have learned though, is that the psyche is incredibly resilient and intelligent, and will keep introducing us to that same pattern or dynamic until we pay attention and accept the invitation to embark on the journey of the Self. I believe that metaphors and symbols are ways in which the psyche communicates and can provide much information about one’s inner landscapes and how to navigate them. I find that by offering a playful but thoughtful space to traverse such inner terrains and explore sensations, images, curiosities, fantasies, dreams, and subjective experiences affords the opportunity to learn what these “parts unknown” has to say. Unfamiliarity is a stranger only if we allow it to be. I invite clients to bring in whatever calls to them in the moment, which may include images, songs, stories, memories, dreams, poems, and the like. I hold value in the therapeutic relationship, paying attention to what is available and accessible psychically during session while integrating how experiences impact, influence, and shape our being on both a personal and collective level.
When life feels overwhelming, having a compassionate partner in healing can make all the difference. With over a decade of experience, I help women find paths to healing and growth individually or in families and relationships. I specialize in trauma and co-occurring disorders (mental health, substance issues, and relationship difficulties), and the unique phases of life women encounter, from motherhood to career shifts to menopause. Together, we’ll work to create lasting change through a safe, supportive, and client-centered approach, whether your journey involves personal growth, overcoming past pain, or rebuilding relationships My approach emphasizes self-awareness, empowerment, and self-compassion, fostering a space where you can feel safe, heard, and valued. I draw on evidence-based therapies, including Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for trauma, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) for emotional resilience, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), including somatic techniques, to support lasting change. Christian counseling is also available for those who wish to integrate faith. Taking the first step can be difficult, but you don’t have to do it alone. I’m here to walk alongside you as you work through life’s transitions, heal from past pain, and discover a deeper sense of peace and fulfillment. If you’re ready to explore your potential for change, let’s start this journey together—one compassionate step at a time. Blessings, Felisa
Hi, welcome! When meeting a new person in therapy, I like to provide an environment that is open and accepting and approach people with a humanistic, whole person perspective. We all have problems but taking the viewpoint that people are defined by their problems does not appeal to me. For example, seeing someone as a whole, multifaceted person who happens to be in a situation of homelessness feels very different from saying "that is a homeless woman". I have found that many of us learned to be unkind to ourselves in our heads and often speak to ourselves very critically and without patience and gentleness. The longest relationship we will ever have is with ourselves and I have found that how we treat ourselves makes a great deal of difference to our sense of well-being and happiness. When we have problems that feel insurmountable, we can work on breaking issues down in a way that helps us cope and makes them manageable. We can then begin to take steps that may be small but are still progress in the direction we desire and which will result in getting us to where we want to be in our future.
***Accepting New Clients*** I believe that therapy is a unique process that can be valuable to all individuals, couples, and families. No one knows your story better than you do, and I strive to provide you with a comfortable and safe environment where we can work together toward your goals. I am to help clients build the necessary skills in order to overcome any obstacle they face along the way. As you take this courageous journey, I would like to walk alongside you to help you find your inner strength so you can live the life you deserve. I work through a systemic framework of treatment that will allow us to explore how relationships around you can have an impact on one's life. I enjoy working with teenagers, couples, and families from diverse backgrounds. Thank you for taking the time to look through my profile. I look forward to helping you!
