I am a licensed Marriage and Family therapist providing individual, couples and marital counseling in Center City, Philadelphia. My practice is focused on helping individuals develop a better understanding of who they are and who they hope to become. I believe that everyone has a unique story that deserves to be heard without judgement and with plenty of compassion. Individuals are treated with respect and building a trusting, therapeutic relationship is the first goal of treatment. The approach of therapy is collaborative in that you are viewed as the expert of your own life and treatment goals are developed collectively. As a certified yoga instructor and psychotherapist, I have a passion for mind-body wellness. I incorporate meditation, mindfulness and yoga postures with talk therapy to combat issues such as depression, anxiety, trauma, stress and even relationship issues. At my practice, therapy is safe and productive. Many have called my methods of therapy, calming and refreshing. When working with couples, I use research based methods to help partners set meaningful goals and develop new and effective ways of communicating their wants and needs, thoughts, and emotions. I have helped couples work through many issues such as divorce and affairs as well as difficulties with communication, trust, and loss. From our sufferings, we are forced to be honest and then, the real change can occur.
My approach focuses on helping individuals have hope and belief in the knowledge that they can live a life of fulfillment and contentment. Often people feel broken, overwhelmed and hopeless when faced with life challenges, whatever they may be. It feels like no one understands and nothing can be done, but with help and we all need help from time to time; life can feel worth living. A number of theories are used according to the unique needs you may have. I became a therapist because I love to connect with others on a deeper level. Every since I was about 5 years old, I knew I wanted to be a Social Worker. When we would play house, I would be the social worker. My passion has remained, I enjoy what I do and see it as my part in helping to make this world a better place. My motto is "Bring Quality Back to Care". To treat people as people and not a number. No waiting hours, no feel of being in an institution, no disrespectful staff; just me brimming with a smile filled with enthusiasm and eager to help you reach your goal.
After struggling with anxiety or depression for long enough, you may start to feel stuck. Anxiety and depression can make us think and act in ways that ironically leave us feeling even more anxious and depressed, creating a kind of "vicious cycle." Fortunately, advances in evidence-based therapies have given rise to interventions that can reliably interrupt this cycle, so you can stop struggling and start living. I work with my clients using cognitive-behavioral and humanistic approaches, and incorporate mindfulness-based interventions to decrease the impact of challenging thoughts and emotions, while simultaneously increasing engagement with who and what matters most. Your values and goals will guide our work together every step of the way.

Now Accepting New Clients Welcome. I'm glad you're here. It takes enormous courage to reach out for help. We deserve to be seen, heard, listened to, and understood. Each person has a unique story, and our struggles may give rise to life difficulties. As we understand the origins of your unique distress, we are able to design a plan to restore good health. We can consider current situations and stresses, biology, social concerns, thoughts, and experiences as we learn about what is troubling you. I am fortunate to have many years of experience and constant study that allow me to offer you a menu of methods for relief. You decide what works for you. My role is to be a mentor, a support, and a teacher. Above all, together we will find hope. As a psychologist and a nurse, I am able to understand complex physical and mental health issues. With over 40 years in practice, I have learned a wide range of methods that can help you feel better. Therapy is an investment in yourself. Sometimes just a few sessions will provide what you are looking for, and other times we are able to work together over time. My approach is flexible and nonjudgmental. I offer unconditional acceptance as we look for relief. I encourage you to talk with several therapists to see who might be a good match.
I collaborate with arts and helping professionals on a variety of issues, including: finding your voice in negotiation and relationships, getting creative projects and careers off the ground, identifying what's working in your life--and what's not--and how to change things for the better. I also work with issues around bereavement and loss. My training and approach combines psychodynamic, mindbody and mindfulness aspects. I have expertise in stress management (how to handle the present), trauma recovery (how to integrate the past) and creative breakthroughs and empowerment (how to build a future). When appropriate, I use EMDR, a proven method of symptom relief from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD); meditation and breathing exercises and other techniques. Equally if not more important is how we fit together as a working team. I invite you to consult with me for one or two sessions and see if you'd like to work with me.
You may be seeking therapy because relationships feel hard, your life feels unsettled, or you simply want to understand yourself more deeply. My style is interactive, kind, and direct. I’ve spent over 15 years supporting people in exploring the layers of who they are, with care, honesty, and deep listening. I work with people who are ready to reflect on their patterns and better understand the roots of anxiety, shame, and emotional discomfort. My approach is collaborative and grounded in the belief that therapy should move at your pace, gently stretching, never pushing. I use metaphor, humor, and thought-provoking questions to help bring clarity to what feels confusing or stuck. Our work together can help you feel more grounded, navigate relationships with greater ease, and tend to the parts of life that feel less than ideal. You'll be invited to bring your full self. Your curiosity, confusion, strengths, and fears are all invited into a space where your full self can be seen and held. Over time, therapy can help you move through fear, worry, overwhelm, and dissatisfaction by better understanding yourself and your patterns. My guiding principles as a therapist: • You choose the pace and focus—therapy works best when you're in the driver’s seat. • Both the inner and outer world shape emotional wellness. • You are primed to heal; therapy helps uncover what’s in the way.
