My goal is to help you uncover your true potential and lead a life that is worth celebrating. While we can't change difficult situations of the past, we can work together to better understand and resolve challenges in your life. By applying complementary therapy approaches and techniques, we will unearth long-standing behavior patterns and negative perceptions that may be holding you back from experiencing a more fulfilling and meaningful life.
Your life is stressful. With multiple deadlines, a to-do list that is ever-expanding, and a family and a social life that demands attention, you are stretched thin. You know that you can be successful, but you're beginning to think that you are dropping too many balls. The constant pressure to perform is turning into unrelenting anxiety and your performance is suffering. Therapy sounds like it might be a good idea, but no way can you dedicate seasons or years to making things better. Your work cannot wait, your spouse cannot wait, you cannot wait. Efficiency is critical. Confidentiality is critical. But you're ready to do what it takes. Let me help. I employ advanced Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for effective, results-based solutions. I use a flexible, completely confidential model that can produce significant improvement in weeks or months rather than in years. Your experience is the foundation of our work together, and I'll teach you the specific methods you need to fit your own demands. Your life does not have to be overwhelming. Even when a part of you feels it's impossible, there is another part that knows that you can do it. You need that positive, accomplished side to shine and dominate your day. I can help you, show you, how to do that. It's time to conquer the anxiety, overwhelm, and relationship problems. Call me today. Let's talk!
I bring a grounded presence and use a warm and collaborative practice approach. I focus on helping people ease anxiety and depression, navigate difficult relationships, and get clear on what they need to create a firm ground from which to connect with a deeper vision for their lives. Those I've worked with have described me as an attuned and engaged listener and a caring and compassionate guide who will show up for their hardest moments while helping them tap into their sources of creativity, joy, and resilience. My work is healing-centered, with expertise in early childhood trauma (including sexual trauma), family conflict, divorce, and loss. I bring creativity, open-heartedness, and open-mindedness to helping people get unstuck in the areas that matter most to them. Additionally, I have specialized training in Internal Family Systems (IFS). My approach is fundamentally rooted not only in exploring difficult emotions and experiences with compassion and tenderness but also in connecting to your strengths and watering the seeds of what makes you feel alive, connected, nurtured, and whole. Cultivating self-love is at the core of much of the work we will do together. I weave together a practice approach rooted in mindfulness, anti-oppressive, and healing-centered frameworks. I believe deeply in the importance of creating spaces where grounded healing is relatable, empowering, and widely available. As a queer person, I understand complexity and the importance of community and connection. My work is also rooted in a sense of justice and social embeddedness, with an understanding of how individuals operate within complex webs of social forces, which inevitably explores how to engage with white supremacy, patriarchy, heterosexism, inequity, and other systemic producers of harm. Relatedly, I care about exploring the inter-generational dimensions of both pain and strength. I am deeply committed to those I work with, their paths of healing, and to staying present with them along those paths. I bring a warm, empathic sense of grounded presence and creativity about how to meet each individual person’s needs, hopes, and deepest intentions for their lives. While I know therapy to be a transformative space in which to heal, I’ve also seen how being held in the community, connecting deeply with the earth, and connecting with one’s innate creativity can hold immense transformative power for healing. Throughout my life and career, I’ve drawn on these ideas in my own healing and my work. I’ve also engaged in training in trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT) (a modality designed to address the difficulties associated with single, multiple, and complex trauma experiences) and internal family systems (IFS), a modality that holds us with nuance and complexity and that can be profoundly helpful in working through being stuck, navigating stress in relationships, and healing from past experiences.
I am a psychoanalyst, graduate of the Training and Research Institute of Self Psychology, an EMDR practitioner, and a sandplay therapist trained through the Sandplay Therapists of America, which has a Jungian foundation. My experience with children and families as a consultant for high schools, elementary schools, preschools and clinics has shaped my ability to work intuitively and spontaneously in a wide variety of circumstances. My experience as a professional artist and my meditation practice also greatly inform my work. My partner, William Murray, PhD, and I have formed Keene Murray Therapy and have an office across from Prospect Park in Brooklyn. We also work long distance on the phone and Skype. Besides our individual work, we offer workshops, CDs and dual-therapist couples therapy. Respectful We recognize that our clients are the only ones who can truly tell their story. Our function is to help clients identify and achieve their goals. Non-pathologizing We believe that most problems are simply former solutions that no longer work. We help clients discover more adaptive means to meet life's challenges. Collaborative We value the interpersonal quality of a therapeutic relationship that acknowledges the effects and influences that both client and therapist contribute. Depth-oriented Experience has shown us that significant change has its roots in the multi-layered interconnectedness of a person's inner life. We accompany clients as they explore and learn to navigate this strange and exciting territory.

I practice a problem focused, short-term, and distinct form of cognitive behavioral therapy. I am an active directive therapist. I teach people how to change what can be changed and to accept what cannot be changed about themselves, others and life. I teach rational thinking. This approach is called Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT). It was created by Albert Ellis a famous psychologist who I worked with for many years. This is a no nonsense approach to emotional and behavioral health. I actively show you how not to upset yourself when you encounter difficulties so that you can then go about attempting to modify what can be changed. I teach people how to control their emotions and behaviors. I work with individuals and couples. I show people how to adopt sensible beliefs so that they can achieve their potential. Please go to my website and watch my video and read more about this very pragmatic, fast acting and direct form of psychotherapy.
In my practice we primarily utilize a specialized Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) program, empowering our clients with coping skills to break down the artificial walls and boundaries that have formed throughout their lives. The goal is to witness these individuals soar in the world, experiencing peace and joy instead of anxiety and depression. Additionally, we incorporates hypnosis and age regression techniques, exploring childhood events, and past life regression techniques to delve deep into their unconsciousness. These methods help uncover their true calling, talents, address traumas, phobias, and provide answers to the various challenges they face. We also use uses dramapsychodrama techniques as well to help clients to achieve their therapeutic goals through more creative process. With a belief that many individuals who experience excessive anxiety, fear, and depression possess creative, sensitive, and deep personalities, Inna aims to assist them in navigating their “creative” minds, obsessive thoughts, and emotions. Often working with perfectionists, empaths, and sensitive individuals, she affectionately refers to them as “birds” who struggle with adjusting to the material world and occasionally feel like outsiders. Even if individuals do not have anxiety or panic disorders, anyone seeking personal growth, increased effectiveness in different areas of life, stress management skills, or self-exploration can benefit from these methods and techniques.I love seeing progress and movement forward when i work with my individual clients or couples. I enjoy providing people with the life and relationship skills which they would carry out of my office and implement them in their real lives either to cope with depressive or anxiety provoking feelings, or achieving new professional successes, or creating the relationship or sexual life of their dreams. I totally believe in following your bliss in life and a sense of fulfillment that comes with it. In my counseling approach I'm rather directive with couples and doing psychosexual therapy. I give specific instructions and homework to expedite achieving your goals using Imago, EFT and other methods. During individual therapy, I taylor my approach to each client in particular, and you could have a taste of REBT, Focusing, Gestalt Therapies and more. When I treat sexual trauma, or any history of abuse, I use such evidenced based techniques as CPT or STAIR often.
I'm a licensed Substance Abuse Counselor and Social Worker, and I have been in the field for more than 10 years. I mostly work from a client-centered perspective, which means that my clients can expect empathy, compassion, and honesty throughout their whole therapeutic experience. By giving clients the tools to get through distressing or challenging times, I find that they often eventually find the motivation to live their healthiest lives. I tend to use cognitive behavioral therapy as my primary treatment modality, although I truly believe that the best treatment approach is an adaptable one, so I also apply elements of mindfulness, as well as psychodynamic, relational, and humanistic therapies to suit my clients' particular goals. I work mostly with adults to treat concerns like addiction, ADHD, anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions, obsessive-compulsive, peer relationships, relationship issues, school issues, self-esteem problems, sleep issues, stress, co-occurring issues, infidelity, gender issues, eating conditions, trauma, PTSD, and mood issues. I can help develop and manage coping skills, gain insight about emotional and relationship struggles, and build self-compassion and confidence to ensure a brighter future for an individual.
