My approach in therapy is collaborative, supportive, and goal oriented.
Hello and welcome! I am honored that you are considering me in helping you on the path towards living a more fulfilling and exciting life. I am a NYS Licensed Clinical Psychologist with expertise in treating anxiety, depression, relationship issues, work stress, and self-esteem issues. I use a comprehensive approach inclusive of several modalities of traditional psychotherapy to identify and address areas for improvement. These include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), as well as psychodynamic therapy. My goal is to provide you with concrete tools and techniques that you can use when you find yourself in a place of uncertainty, discomfort, or uneasiness. My intention is to empower you to recognize your innate ability to make the changes you desire, and to rediscover that you hold the answers within yourself already. I really look forward to working with you and would love to set up a free consultation call. It is important that you find a therapist that you really feel comfortable working with. Thank you!
Welcome - I'm really glad you're here. I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with a passion for helping individuals and couples navigate some of life’s toughest (and sometimes messiest) moments. I work with older adolescents, adults, and couples - including those in the LGBTQ+ and polyamorous communities who are navigating challenges related to anxiety, trauma, identity, and relationship dynamics. Therapy with me is a collaborative, down-to-earth experience where you’re met with compassion, honesty, and a good dose of humor. While I draw from evidence-based practices like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Integrative Behavioral Couples Therapy (IBCT), and Prolonged Exposure, I also believe healing doesn’t always have to be heavy. Laughter can be just as therapeutic as tears, and I intentionally bring warmth and levity into our work - because joy, even in small moments, matters. At the core of my practice is a person-centered philosophy: I meet you where you are, respect your unique story, and walk alongside you as you reconnect with your strengths and move toward meaningful change. With experience across diverse clinical settings including residential treatment, nonprofits, and private practice. I bring both clinical skill and a real-world understanding of what it means to be human. Whether you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or simply ready to grow, I’m here to support you with empathy, curiosity, and maybe even a little laughter along the way.
Safety and trust are the cornerstones of psychotherapy. Helping people to live richer, fuller and more satisfying lives can occur when you feel safe, never judged and accepted for both who and how you are. Together we will work on the issues that you wish to focus on, and you can live a fuller, richer life, in all dimension - personal, professional, relational.
I am currently taking new patients who are experiencing problems with work, school and/or relationships that are due to obsessive and problematic usage of internet/computer/video games. Depression and anxiety are often associated with excessive use of these interactive technologies. Within the past seven years, I have seen a significant rise in my practice in people who have experienced major difficulties that have been rooted in spending too much time online, or excessively involved in one or more forms of interactive technology (i.e., computer/video games). For some, it has to do with excessive internet surfing. For others, it may involve multi-user online games (e.g., World of Warcraft, Call of Duty). A growing number of people have reported spending ("wasting") hours upon hours on blogs, watching Youtube vidoes, and on Facebook, Tumblr, and other social networking sites.
I have been working with individuals and couples for over 25 years in a private practice setting based in New York City and New Jersey. It is my hope and intent to foster a working therapeutic environment in which people can feel free to express themselves in ways that will open up new ways of thinking, being and relating. .The most rewarding, yet, challenging aspect to living is being in relationship with ourselves and with another. How to navigate and sustain feelings of connectedness while maintaining a sense of authenticity is part of what I find people to be struggling with, especially in our culture of high demand and expectation. My experience in working with trauma, addictive disorders, abuse issues, life-transitions, as well as general anxiety and depression, has led me to believe that people are seeking ways towards achieving some sense of worth, meaning and well being. Over time, we will find ways together to speak to those parts of the self that have been in need of attention and support, making room for new experiences to emerge.
Over the past 30 years, I have had the privilege of working with individuals from all walks of life. My approach is grounded in a deep respect for the individual human spirit and a true belief in the therapeutic relationship as a means to create a sense of possibility in life and a desire to move forward. We all have the answers to those challenging questions within us. My hope is to facilitate this process of recovery.
