My approach in therapy is collaborative, supportive, and goal oriented.
I am an interactive, solution-focused, faith-based therapist, with over 19 years of experience. My therapeutic approach is to provide support and practical feedback to empower and help clients effectively address personal life challenges. I offer a warm, safe and supportive environment, with a personalized approach tailored to each of my client's needs.
My approach to therapy is focused on creating a safe space someone can explore challenging thoughts and emotions, whether it is related to depression anxiety or struggles with addiction or compulsive behaviors. I truly believe if a person feels heard, learns effective coping skills and has the time and space to process the challenges in life, that growth and the ability to create the lives we want, is possible. I am passionate in supporting individuals to seek the potential and confidence to work toward their goals as well as learn the skill needed to cope with life's issues and challenges.
Therapy is a way to help navigate through life’s ups and downs, a safe and non-judgmental space to explore your thoughts and feelings, to foster healing, growth, or awareness, and gain a better understanding of you and others around you. We all experience challenges, issues, or change, which can be both positive and negative, whether it is trauma-related, career or vocational, or life transitions. As a licensed clinical social worker, utilizing a cognitive behavioral, healing-centered, and trauma-focused lens, we can work together through a therapeutic approach in an empowering and mindful process to build upon your strengths for emotional well-being. Janice received her masters in social work at Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College and has over ten years of varying experience providing services to interpersonal crime and abuse survivors. As an Asian-American, an additional interest is anti-racism and culturally inclusive work. Janice has over ten years of experience providing services to adults, working in a trauma-focused, healing-centered lens. Janice works with clients to foster an empowering therapeutic alliance to build upon clients’ strengths, growth, and awareness for emotional and mental health well-being. Janice’s additional interest is in anti-racism and culturally inclusive work.
I enjoy working with children and adolescents to establish a warm therapeutic relationship. My goal is for my clients to not just improve but to thrive so that they can grow and mature to be successful and productive members of society. I enjoy working with parents and teachers to help them better understand their children and students and to foster a more peaceful and productive home and classroom. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my husband (also a psychologist!) and two young children. I also enjoy reading, exercise, and participating in community events.
Do you feel like you don’t have a space that is meant for you in this world? “Normal" has never been where you fit in, and that’s fine with you. But you are more than a little tired of holding up the mask you wear and seeming so resilient when you’re really just exhausted. So you want to explore deeper within yourself and be true to who you are. You want a better relationship with yourself and those you are around, whether friends, family, or romantic partners. You can improve and grow your relationships. You can absolutely learn new skills and strengthen what’s already there. It might be really fucking difficult, but you’ve gotten this far, haven’t you? All of the resources to be the best you are already there. They’re just waiting to be unlocked. But you don’t have to do it all alone. I can help. Not as some high-and-mighty expert, but as your guide. Because I’ve been there too. I know how hard it is to balance all of your competing needs. I’m Latina, autistic, and an ADHDer. I get it. So if you want to start making some changes now, visit my website at kristinajoneslmhc.com or email me at contact@kristinajoneslmhc.com.
Working with me means you’ll have a therapist who is both straightforward and supportive. I’m not the type to just sit back and nod—I want you to leave our sessions with something useful you can actually apply to your everyday life. Clients often tell me they appreciate that I’m warm, approachable, and honest, but also that I bring a little humor and creativity into the process. I believe therapy should feel like a partnership. I’ll meet you where you are without judgment, and I’ll also challenge you when it’s needed, because growth happens outside of our comfort zone. Whether we’re working through grief, relationship struggles, or just the stress of daily life, I’ll help you find clarity, perspective, and practical ways to move forward. It’s also important to know that I value authenticity. I bring my full self into the room, and I encourage you to do the same. I want you to feel safe, understood, and also empowered to experiment, grow, and discover new possibilities for yourself.

I meet clients where they are—no judgment, no pressure to "fix" everything at once. My style is collaborative, grounded, and direct. I draw from evidence-based practices, but I also pay close attention to your lived experience. Therapy with me is a space where you can be honest, even when it’s messy. Together we will unpack what’s holding you back, reconnect with your strengths, and build tools that actually work for your life. We’ll identify patterns, shift unhelpful narratives, and create meaningful, lasting change at a pace that feels right for you. My clients describe me as genuine, thoughtful, and easy to talk to. They say I bring clarity without being cold, and that I challenge them in a way that feels safe and empowering. If you’re ready to make that shift and take one small, but powerful, step, I’d love to support you. Reach out now to schedule a free, 15‑minute consultation by phone or video—we’ll talk about what you’re facing, and whether I might be the right fit.
Thank you for your interest in my practice. I have been a licensed clinical social worker in the Mid-Hudson Valley since 1994. I offer supportive psychotherapy to children, adults, couples and families in the community. Within the context of a caring therapeutic environment, I collaborate with clients on addressing a range of concerns including relationship issues, life transitions (such as going away to college, coping with divorce, becoming a first-time parent) and managing stressors at school, work and home. Capitalizing on each individual's unique strengths and needs, I assist clients in finding ways to enhance their personal effectiveness and overall life satisfaction through opportunities to develop new skills and valuable insights. I am committed to staying current in my knowledge base as a mental health clinician so that I can best serve the persons who entrust me with their psychological well-being. My post-graduate training is ongoing and includes certification in the field of Grief and Loss. Having this background, I am particularly attuned to how emotional wounds that were inflicted in the past may be making their legacy known in the present. I have also been certified by the Smith College School for Social Work in the area of Advanced Practice with Children and Adolescents. My practice is sensitive to all areas of diversity, including race, gender, religion, ethnicity, disability and sexual orientation. While I work with persons of many faiths and creeds, I do offer Christian-based counseling by request.
