My approach in therapy is collaborative, supportive, and goal oriented.
I specialize in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for adults who are experiencing anxiety, phobias, panic attacks, or depression. I use brief, evidence-based treatments to help you feel better quickly. My style is empathic, realistic, and optimistic. I view therapy as a collaborative process, mainly focused on the here-and-now, where we work together to enable you to overcome the barriers between you and your goals. You are the expert in you - we'll create a plan that is personalized to your specific values, identities, and experiences. We’ll practice new skills and strategies so that you feel confident using them on your own to get better results at work, home, and in your relationships. In addition to this private practice, I am an Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychology in Psychiatry at Columbia University Irving Medical Center and the New York State Psychiatric Institute. My research involves mood disorders, memory disorders, and the interactions between these conditions.
My therapeutic style is based on transpersonal psychology, which is solution-focused and person-centered. I use modalities such as mindfulness, meditation, and inner child work in order to increase resilience and enhance connection and meaning in life. I support and motivate clients to develop their own goals to move forward in life. An important aspect of my work is to help clients find connection and navigate relationships. Each individual's unique physical, emotional, and spiritual needs are taken into consideration when developing a treatment plan, which includes combining a holistic approach with evidence-based practice. The goal is not to alter who you are, but adjust how you respond and be a guide. I work from a variety of validating approaches that empower and motivate people in the therapeutic process.
Are you experiencing anxiety and stress that are having a negative impact on your life? Or do you have body-focused repetitive behaviors (BFRBs), like skin picking or hair pulling, that are impacting your emotional and physical well-being? I would love to work with you, as I treat anxiety and other related conditions, as well as BFRBs in older children, adolescents, and young adult women. Together, we will work toward increasing your awareness of your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, and identify and use healthier and more effective strategies. I became passionate about helping clients with BFRBs and anxiety during my 20 years of experience in the mental health field. I received my master’s degree in social work from the University of Pennsylvania, and worked at McLean Hospital for 14 years. I am trained in several treatment approaches, and will use the most effective ones to help you achieve your treatment goals. My style is collaborative, empathic, and goal-focused. Please reach out to me if you are looking to better manage your BFRBs, anxiety, and stress, and live a happier, healthier life!

My passion is working with young people and their families concerned about the impact of substance use in their lives. I understand that many people have been harmed by one-size-fit-all treatment approaches, so self-empowerment is my focus and my approach is person- and family-centric. There are many paths to wellness. This means that you are in charge of your treatment goals. I understand that any change is difficult so I'll meet you where you're at in the change process to empower you to take the next steps. People use substances for reasons. I'll work with you to help you understand your relationship with substances and collaborate with you to develop tools and strategies to reduce any harms associated with your use. Goals may include safer use, reduced use or abstinence.
Trauma may have changed you in ways others can’t see—but it doesn’t define who you are. It can leave you feeling disconnected, confused, stuck, and unsure of yourself. It can ruin relationships, families and your sense of self. I have spent over a decade specializing in trauma as well as individuals in high risk professions such as health-care workers, first responder and Veterans. I know that healing is possible. If you're searching for trauma therapy near me or a PTSD specialist with advanced training, I can help. I am a clinical consultant and trainer in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and Prolonged Exposure (PE), and I also offer EMDR to support nervous-system healing. My practice is LGBTQ+ affirming, inclusive, and trauma-informed. In therapy, we work together to understand how trauma has shaped your emotions, relationships, and nervous system. My approach is collaborative, evidence-based, and compassionate. I strive to create a safe, non-judgmental space where you can rebuild trust in yourself, feel grounded again, and move toward the life you want. If you are searching for a "therapist near me," you are in the right place. I am a licensed psychologist in Pennsylvania and authorized to practice telepsychology across PSYPACT states through an active APIT (ASPPB E.Passport). I can provide telehealth sessions to clients physically located in: Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.
I hold a Master of Science from Columbia University and Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Berkeley. It was my own life experience that led me to become a psychotherapist. Perhaps because of this my patients often report feeling understood in a way they'd not expected. I believe you'll find I bring warmth, understanding, humor and maturity to our every session. I see each patient as a unique individual with a complex biological and psychological history, yet one whose life is built upon a myriad of relationships. I believe that above all else, we are social beings and seek connection to others; all emotional healing occurs within the context of relationships – whether in the therapeutic relationship in which we will engage, your intimate partner relationship, within your family, in enduring friendships or, ideally, in combination of each of these. It’s my belief that our emotions, mood, ability to genuinely connect with others and our sense of connection with our physical body are the result of many factors. We are the sum total of countless memories and sensations (some remembered, others suppressed), how we learned as children to attach emotionally to those with whom we were closest, and the interplay of these as they interact with our genetic predispositions. In your treatment, I will utilize a blend of the most transformative therapies I have studied over the years that speak to this complex interface of factors. Together let's find a path to a healthier life, one guided by wisdom gained from a better understanding of our past, as we pursue a future with a greater sense of well-being.
I believe in the Rogerian principle of having unconditional positive regard for my clients. This means that you will not be judged no matter what you share with me and that I will work with you toward the best outcome. I want to build upon your strengths and help you gain knowledge from past disappointments as building blocks toward a better tomorrow.
Welcome! I’m Bridget (sheher). I am a licensed psychotherapist and nationally certified counselor licensed in Pennsylvania and Colorado. I specialize in working in perinatal health and wellness. This means I am certified and trained in working with those experiencing infertility, miscarriage, in vitro fertilization (IVF), pregnancy, and the postpartum period. I am passionate about supporting individuals and families during the transformative journey of pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period. My mission is to provide compassionate, evidence-based care to those navigating the challenges and joys of the perinatal period and beyond. In addition to my focus on maternal mental health and women’s emotional wellness, I bring extensive training in supporting individuals through anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, and neurodivergence. I draw from evidence-based approaches, including trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT), psychodynamic therapy, eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), tailoring each session to meet the unique needs of the client. My work is grounded in a strengths-based, compassionate approach that honors both the complexity and resilience of the individuals I work with.
I use a wellness focused, person-centered creative approach to therapy that is empowerment oriented and assists clients in identifying and resolving blocks and integrating resources at the level of mind/body/spirit. I enjoy helping clients to discover their own internal truths and to live their passions. My therapy is focused on present-day concerns and resolving negative patterns to free energy in order to realize life's fullest potentials.
