Welcome. I’m glad you’ve taken this step to move forward in your life. We all experience places in our lives where we need support and new skills, in order to move beyond where we are, which often is causing pain in our lives. I bring experience and a strong skillset to our sessions, having worked with my clients around stress, depression, anxiety, relationship bumps, childhood issues, social anxiety, difficulty managing emotions, avoidance of conflict, and feeling stuck. In addition to traditional therapy skills, I integrate breathing skills, relaxation skills, and the practice of mindfulness into our sessions. Often, your ability to slow things down in a stressful situation in order to stay totally present on what is happening, allows you the opportunity to make changes in your life. I realize that the relationship I create with my clients really impacts their path forward. It’s important to feel comfortable, heard, and not judged, in order to openly explore your thoughts and feelings, and begin to take some risks by thinking and behaving differently. A good fit is important, so I offer a thirty-minute complimentary phone consultation. It gives us the opportunity to talk more about your focus, you can experience my style, and I can share ideas of how I could work with you. Everyone is at a different place when they take this first step. I find that I work well with clients who want to move beyond venting and are ready to create real change in their life. I bring experience, a belief in your ability to make positive change in your life, and a willingness to accompany you on the journey.
People who come to my practice often feel let down by others, misunderstood, led to believe there is something wrong with them. In our work, I tend to be interested in how the past interacts with the present, helping you gain insight, self-acceptance, and self-awareness in a collaborative atmosphere. I will be your partner in the process, identifying problematic patterns of thought and behavior, understanding what's inhibiting you in relationships, and facilitating difficult emotions.
Hi I’m Elsa (she, they), a NYC clinical psychologist specializing in life transitions, identity, and spirituality (meaning, purpose, and connection). I’m also passionate about serving communities that have historically experienced barriers to whole-person care including LGBTQ+, BIPOC, Asian American, and neurodivergent (gifted, 2e, autistic, highly sensitive) teens, adults, partners, and families of all kinds. My practice integrates cultural diversity, health psychology, and identity development in exploring meaning, skills enhancement, and values based living. I also believe that healing must be contextualized by systemic factors that impact each person’s unique struggles and strengths. Each crisis in our lives is an opportunity for healing and growth. I specialize in LGBTQIA+ concerns and I work with many heterosexual clients, as well.. My primary approach is relational psychodynamic, meaning I focus on the healing power of the therapeutic relationship to uncover and work on your deeper issues. An interactive and empathic therapist, I offer advice and support when needed, and I share my own experiences when I think they will be helpful. Though I have extensive, in-depth training, I rely greatly on intuition and humor in my work.
Safety and trust are the cornerstones of psychotherapy. Helping people to live richer, fuller and more satisfying lives can occur when you feel safe, never judged and accepted for both who and how you are. Together we will work on the issues that you wish to focus on, and you can live a fuller, richer life, in all dimension - personal, professional, relational.
It’s hard to seek help — it brings us to acknowledge our struggles and vulnerabilities. But suffering from concerns such as anxiety, depression, PTSD and difficult relationships can be worse. Seeking therapy is a sign of strength. It means you want to improve your life and work through your challenges. Therapy helps because it brings relief and restores hope. Therapy teaches us how to better our lives and ourselves. In my practice, I combine a variety of treatment methods that are psychodynamic and evidence-based. I am extensively trained in EMDR and STAIR NST, and in grief work. I am experienced in working with anxiety, depression, relationship issues and trauma (e.g. sexual, emotional and physical abuse), stemming from both childhood and adulthood. My clients come out of therapy revitalized, optimistic and eager to pursue their life’s goals. I look forward to taking this journey with you as well. You deserve to feel better.
Are you seeking better relationships, greater career success, or relief from emotional distress? I will work with you to overcome the obstacles to living the life you want. Understanding yourself and others in new ways can increase your ability to relate to people authentically and experience love. Reconsidering recurring patterns that once seemed inevitable or uncontrollable can help you eliminate self-defeating behaviors and discover new choices and options. Acquiring the psychological skills to direct your life more effectively can lead to making lasting changes. Developing your emotional intelligence can promote greater resilience, humor, and capacity for pleasure. In therapy you can clarify your goals and develop the self-confidence and interpersonal skills to attain them, learn to build strong relationships, motivate yourself to achieve professional and financial success, and learn to cope effectively with challenges. The aim is to live more consciously and experience greater satisfaction in life. I provide therapy in a safe, nonjudgmental environment where you can feel comfortable expressing yourself openly. I have practiced for over 20 years, and also teach and supervise other therapists. I work with each person as an individual and tailor my treatment approach to your unique needs.

Frequently, people who have experienced trauma, develop extraordinary survival skills. Often the strategies that were critical for survival when you were a child, thwart the ability to develop satisfying work, family or romantic relationships in adulthood. Psychotherapy provides an opportunity to transcend patterns that are holding you back from achieving your goals, and realizing your potential. This often includes addressing family, career, and relationship issues within the treatment as well as recognizing thinking or behavior which may be harmful or holding you back. I specialize in the treatment of PTSD, anxiety and depression, and am certified in EMDR, CPT and MI. Additionally I am trained in Internal Family Systems. My practice is influenced by CBT, psychodynamic, Schema and mindfulness-based therapies. We will spend our first sessions exploring important historical information, assessing your needs, and setting goals. I strive to nurture relationships with clients that are compassionate, kind, and non-judgmental, and safe enough to tolerate direct but gentle confrontation. Together we will determine the approach and pace that will work best for you.
My mission is to use my extensive, specialized experience in the field of transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) to improve the lives of those suffering from depression. Mid City TMS is a New York treatment center on the cutting edge of treatment-resistant depression therapy. We offer convenient TMS treatment that is safe, painless, non-convulsive, and non-invasive. Moreover, TMS is one of the most effective procedures available today to combat depression. Our treatment center prioritizes excellent patient care. We work with you every step of the way to develop a comprehensive treatment plan that's right for you. In many cases, collaboration is key, and we are more than happy to coordinate your care with your psychiatrist, therapist, primary care provider, or any other medical professional who has a role in your recovery.
