Seeking therapy is difficult, and on top of that, trying to find the right therapist by clicking through profiles is daunting. Life sometimes presents us with challenges that leave us feeling out of control and unable to move forward. Therapy is about learning to speak about these issues, expressing your feelings, and learning healthy tools to cope and regain control. I bring experience working with diverse populations and issues, such as life transitions, depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, and career issues. As an immigrant, I understand the complexities of balancing cultures, navigating environments, and striving for success. I believe that you are the expert in your own life, and I’m dedicated to supporting you on your healing journey. My goal is to meet you exactly where you are and create a supportive environment where you feel comfortable discussing your experiences, needs, and goals. Using a holistic approach and mixed evidence-based techniques to manage symptoms and heal. My approach involves integrating evidence-based therapeutic practices to match each client, as everyone is unique and has their own demands. We will work together to identify core values, unconscious thoughts, and negative self-concepts to ultimately achieve personal growth. If you think we would work well together, please do not hesitate to reach out.
At Power Counseling PLLC, we are five different clinicians. However, we have one thing in common. We are all committed to satisfactorily resolve the issues that the client brings to the therapy room. We work with individuals, couples, families and groups, offering individual, couple, family and group therapy. Our primary therapy modality is cognitive-behavioral therapy, but we also use solution focused therapy a lot. We are located in Washington DC, but we are licensed to practice in Washington DC, Maryland and Virginia. Our director also offers clinical supervision for those who need it. Now, we offer only teletherapy. We believe that people can change, and that therapy is about assisting clients with what they need to change so that they can lead a healthy life and achieve their life’s goals. We assist our clients to attain self-exploration, resilience, empathy, and emotional empowerment. We firmly believe in the inherent inner powers of each individual to heal. We believe that everyone possesses the necessary internal resources to overcome emotional difficulty and flourish in life. This belief guides our approach to therapy. We strive to empower our clients, in a collaborative manner. Our goal is to provide a holistic, solution-focused, empathy-driven, and emotionally empowering therapy approach. That way, we support my clients to achieve the goals for which they seek therapy. We adopt an inherently collaborative approach. It’s like a partnership in which the client has a voice and can set the agenda for the sessions and take ownership of the outcome of our work together. We empower clients to make decisions about their care, with our guidance. The goal here is to work with the client to identify and implement effective solutions to the issues that they bring to the therapy room. As necessary, we educate and guide our clients to use internal and external resources available to them to heal. We work to empower clients to make decisions and take actions that align with their values and aspirations.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Virginia and Maryland. As an eclectic therapist, I draw from multiple therapeutic approaches to create a personalized experience that best supports each client’s unique needs. I believe that no single method works for everyone, so I integrate techniques from various evidence-based modalities, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, mindfulness practices, and person-centered approaches. My philosophy of helping is rooted in flexibility, collaboration, and respect for each individual’s worldview. I strive to understand your experiences, values, and goals, using different therapeutic tools to support your healing and growth. Whether we are exploring thought patterns, processing emotions, building coping skills, or strengthening relationships, my approach adapts to what works best for you. I have supported clients facing challenges such as depression, anxiety, mood struggles, conduct issues, and family conflicts. Seeking counseling can feel daunting and vulnerable, but my primary goal is to provide a safe, compassionate space where you feel heard, accepted, and genuinely cared for. If you're looking for someone who will listen deeply and understand your unique experience, I am here for you. Take that first step, knowing you're not alone. I believe in the intrinsic worth of all human beings. I believe that many people do not see their value because it is overshadowed by the shame caused by their perceptions of who they should be and what they should be achieving. There are many reasons why these distortions exist; but one thing is for certain, it creates a feeling of being a fraud and deep shame. A lot of time and energy is used to counteract this secret shame. I feel that it is important to help teens and adults to become authentic and accepting of their strengths and weaknesses instead of putting our emotional and physical energy in denying and being afraid of our humanness. It is exhausting and paralyzing to be so afraid of our imperfections. I believe there is value in accepting our own humanity. We have to climb off our self imposed pedestal which is secretive and isolating and connect with other human beings without the fear of being discovered a fraud. It is so freeing and meaningful.
If you’ve been through something hard—like trauma, loss, or a stressful life event—you might feel stuck, sad, anxious, or unsure of what to do next. You are not alone. I’m here to help. I’m a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) in Maryland, and I’ve been helping people through tough times for almost 10 years. I work with adults who are dealing with posttraumatic stress (PTSD), anxiety, depression, grief, and other mental health challenges. I use a therapy called cognitive processing therapy (CPT). It’s a type of talk therapy that helps you understand how trauma may have changed the way you think about yourself, other people, and the world. Sometimes, people blame themselves for what happened, or believe things like, “I’m not safe,” or “It was all my fault.” In therapy, we work together to find more helpful and true ways of thinking. My style as a therapist is kind, easy to talk to, and never judgmental. You can be yourself in our sessions. I believe that healing happens when you feel safe, respected, and understood. I will always meet you where you are and help you move at your own pace. You don’t need to have all the answers before starting therapy. You just need to be open to taking the first step. Whether you want short-term help or want to work on things more deeply, I’m here to support you. I offer both in-person and online sessions, depending on what works best for you. If you're ready to start healing or just want to learn more, I’d be glad to talk with you.
