Why I Love being a Psychotherapist No easy task, the process of therapy requires the unmasking of socially condoned violence done to individuals. In therapy, the uncovering process requires digging through layers of neglect and indifference, contempt and ridicule, shame and humiliation, criticism and guilt, exploitation and manipulation. Almost without exception, each breakthrough involves breakage and releases costly feelings of outrage, hatred, and pain. The reparative process calls for understanding, acceptance, and support, along with a ritualistic observance of the symbolic meanings of the events which come to light. I love being a psychotherapist because this gives me the opportunity to provide assistance, hope and determination that you can make it through anything that might seem impossible. The tools I have used to facilitate this process proceed from what lies deep within the patient's intuition, felt experience, and determination combined with my faith in the patient's primacy, resilience, and self-healing capacity.
Ah-ha! My inability to say no to others stems from wanting approval, but is leading to disinterest, resentment, and distrust in my relationships! I got it! My suppressed shame from past experiences has contributed to my inability to relax, chronic pain, and digestive issues, and I have developed fear of movement, and anxiety about my nutrition because I don’t want to make things worse! That’s it! My belief of not being good enough and fear of failure has resulted in passivity and lack of self-advocacy. It is keeping me from advancing in my career goals and achieving what I deserve! EUREKA! Together, we will explore your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors to discover those light bulb moments. Now- let's get to work! Healing is on the horizon. Hi! I am Dr. Tracy Aneziris. I view therapy as a journey for self-exploration and positive change. In sessions, I work as a teammate and motivator for my clients to reach their goals and improve their quality of life. My success in helping clients comes from gaining a deeper understanding about client experiences, thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. In addition, I help clients seek awareness about how their emotional experiences impact their biological health and functioning. With kindness, enthusiasm to succeed, and faith in all those with whom I work, I help my clients utilize their strengths to build a personal skill set to live a happier, healthier, and relaxed life. My clinical experiences include extensive work with adults in private practices and pain rehab centers, and with geriatric populations in nursing homes. I also have experience working with children, adolescents, and families in community mental health settings. I have specific training in treating depression, anxiety, chronic pain and illness, grief and loss, first responder stress, adjustment disorders in adults, and disruptive behavior and attention problems in children. In addition to therapy, I provide meditation, hypnosis, and progressive muscle relaxation services, and career guidance. I have conducted several studies and presented findings on couples coping with chronic illnesses, coping skills for chronic pain populations, intimate partner violence in adolescents and young adults, and opioid abuse. I have also presented literature and workshops on compassion fatigue, police psychology, special needs care, animal assisted therapy, adolescents transitioning out of foster care, youth bullying, mental health awareness, and chronic pain. With all clients, I encourage a healthy lifestyle. I often provide education and tools for mindfulness, pain management, sleep hygiene, nutrition, behavioral management, and journaling recommendations based on their individual needs. I look forward to working with you and appreciate your trust in me. I am hoping our collaboration will lead you to meet your goals.
While each and every person coming to therapy has their own unique needs and seeks different outcomes from the counseling process, my style of therapy challenges the client to think critically, be mindful, and increase self-awareness in order to affect positive change and realize true power. At Taking Charge, I create a trusting and secure environment for self-discovery and personal growth. I believe each step we take shows us new beginnings. You have taken the first step, and I welcome you as you take another.

I offer therapy that helps you move forward. Whatever the frustration or challenge, we will work together to uncover the patterns shaping how you feel and relate, and find ways to shift how they shape your life now. My evidence-based approach draws upon years of training to help you identify the dynamics within yourself you may be unaware of, which quietly influence your daily life, and to awaken a fuller range of your psychological resources. This improves your ability to heal, grow through the challenges you face, and experience deeper, more meaningful connections with yourself, your relationships, and the world around you. I am a supervising therapist with 22 years of experience. Currently, I am completing advanced training at the C.G. Jung Institute of Chicago, one of the few institutes in the U.S. accredited by the American Board for Accreditation in Psychoanalysis (ABAP), the gold standard of therapy education. Coming from Mexican-American heritage, I understand how the many layers of our background weave into our inner lives now. For me, therapy is a deeply meaningful journey of becoming more attuned to these layers—engaging with the complexity and mystery of who we are in order to address life’s practical problems, and open the door to new possibilities. One of my favorite quotes is from Joseph Campbell: “We must be willing to let go of the life we planned so as to have the life that is waiting for us.” I work at Archive, a company dedicated to raising standards in therapy. We bring together rigorously trained professionals and provide therapy that is thoughtful, structured, and focused on lasting impact. Based on the idea that ‘you can only help someone as far as you have gone yourself,’ my colleagues and I seek to be on our own journey of growth, learning from great psychologists and great literature to bring perspective to our clients. At Archive, we believe that therapy is one of the most meaningful investments you can make in yourself.
You may be here because you feel overwhelmed. Trauma, eating struggles, and body image concerns can feel heavy and isolating, especially when you’ve also faced rejection or invisibility for being LGBTQ+. It’s exhausting to carry shame, self-doubt, or the sense that your body isn’t a safe place to be. If this sounds familiar, know that you don’t have to go through it alone. I see you, and I can help. I offer a safe, affirming space where all parts of your identity are welcome. As a trauma-informed therapist, I specialize in supporting LGBTQ+ individuals navigating eating challenges, body image concerns, and the lasting impact of trauma. My goal is to meet you with compassion, curiosity, and respect, so you can feel understood and supported as you begin to heal. Our work together is collaborative. In our sessions, we’ll move at your pace. We’ll start by exploring your story, identifying patterns that keep you stuck, and creating a plan that feels safe and meaningful. I use relational and somatic approaches, which means we’ll not only talk about your experiences, but also explore how they live in your body, building new ways of connecting with yourself. Over time, you can expect to release shame, deepen self-trust, and build resilience. Many clients discover more peace with their bodies, more ease in relationships, and a greater sense of authenticity in how they live. Healing isn’t about perfection. Healing is about reclaiming your right to be whole, free, and fully yourself.
My approach to helping is that clients have my full attention, in a non-judgmental environment. I try to be as authentic as possible, because I want to hear the real you, not what you think I want to hear. I want people to know that we all go through stuff that makes us who we are even though we might not like it, and that leaves us with two choices we can make. We can either deal with it in a productive way or keep functioning the way we have been, which might not always feel the best. Move at your own pace. I want people to be themselves and to open up. Therapy is hard enough as is! There might be tears and there might be laughs, and all are welcome. I want you to feel comfortable for the most part, though there are time where I might push your buttons, or say something that you don’t like. This is only to help you grow. I won’t sugar coat things like a friend might, because that won’t help you reach the changes you want to make. If my style is not for you, that’s ok! This is your journey, and it’s important that you have someone who makes you feel as comfortable as possible. I have over five years of experience providing counseling services to individuals and families struggling with anxiety, depression, mood disorders, and mild to severe addictions. My experience includes working with individuals of different cultural backgrounds, gender identities and expressions, ages, and sexual orientations. I earned my M.A. in Counseling Psychology, with a concentration in Trauma at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. Subsequently, I completed the necessary supervised hours, and training needed to obtain the Certified Alcohol and other Drug Abuse Counselor (CADC) through the Illinois Certification Board. Take a dive in. Everyone needs someone to talk to who is unbiased about your life. If you need to cry for 50 minutes, do it. I’ll meet you where you are at.
Being well is important to face life's challenges which often change how we see ourselves, others, and our connection to the world around us. It can feel overwhelming, whether you are making intentional, positive changes in your life, or dealing with unexpected or unwanted events. We all need support with these changes through healing relationships of many forms - friends, family, partners, teachers, spiritual mentors, pets and therapists. I provide mindful and compassionate counseling for those seeking wellness, emotional growth and support through the challenges and changes in life. I have over 20 years of counseling experience in an array of settings, supporting adults and youth suffering from depression, anxiety, trauma, eating disorders, relationship difficulties, ADHD, grief and loss. I am a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional, and I believe in treating the whole person, with individualized strategies using CBT, DBT, mindfulness, and trauma related therapies. Through a supportive and compassionate approach with gentle challenges, we can develop a healthy path towards your goals, building resilience and empowerment, embracing your joy, and allowing you to live your best life.
I enjoy working with individuals, family, couples, adolescence, and children. I utilize a variety of counseling techniques such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Therapy, Family systems, Structural Family Therapy, Play Therapy, and Gottman. I am also multilingual, speaking Russian and Ukrainian fluently in addition to English. As a therapist, I believe that everyone can benefit from having a safe space to process one's own thoughts and lead their life in a way to improve their overall self being.
Emotions are perfectly normal! The difference between feeling depressed or anxious comes from our interpretation of these very emotions. I work with adults, children and adolescents for couples or individual counseling. I appreciate working with young people by assisting them in understanding their emotions and what they mean. There are various therapeutic modalities I utilize, including art therapy, as a way to connect behaviors to feelings and sports metaphors for visualizing change. Using this process, my clients increase self-esteem and self-control. My goal is to uncover the strengths individuals possess even if the present life circumstances may feel overpowering. My approach with my clients is Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy. So what exactly does this mean? Simply put, our thoughts affect the emotions we experience every day. These particular thoughts reflect individual beliefs we have about society, relationships, career, love, family and general self-image. This process affects and motivates our behaviors. In our modern world, children grow up in a culture that is alien to most adults. My interventions help to create and facilitate effective communication methods so that this particular cultural divide is lessened between child and parent. I can truly teach you how. You and your child will be better off for it.
Are you feeling overwhelmed by day to day life? Are you starting to think the changes you want to make are out of reach? Do you find yourself talking to family and friends only to hear yourself talk but feeling as if you aren’t getting anywhere? Choosing therapy can bring you out of the cycle. Working collaboratively with a therapist who is objective, focused on you, and helping you develop realistic strategies and plans, can help! I enjoy working with people who want to develop increased self-awareness and gain more skills to maintain genuine, lasting changes. In addition to models of therapy that you may be familiar with, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, I have training in techniques such as Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) and EMDR, which use sensory input to process emotions. This is especially useful when working with trauma and anxiety. If you are seeking a faith-based approach, my training in both counseling and theology has helped equip me to integrate spirituality and psychology when this is requested. Since you are considering counseling, I imagine you desire to make some changes in your life. I look forward to working with you and would be honored to accompany you during this portion of your journey.
