Depression. Anxiety. Relationship and career problems. These very real difficulties of living represent potent opportunities for growth and transformation. This is not always easy to see, however. A key step is developing insight, combined with a willingness to accept increasing levels of personal responsibility. As a therapist and coach, my orientation is holistic. I incorporate a whole-person approach that emphasizes physical, mental, emotional, and interpersonal factors. I view human experience as an inherently creative process, and work to empower clients to harness their innate potential to create meaningful and fulfilling lives through committed action based on personal values. I offer a diverse background in therapy, assessment, and coaching. I am most experienced in addressing clinical issues related to depression, anxiety, trauma, relationship difficulties, and parenting, as well as broader concerns of meaning, growth, and personal potential. I work with children, adults, and couples from a variety of backgrounds. I have practiced since 2004, and recently extended my expertise by completing a PhD in clinical psychology. I have a background in psychological research, and my work has been published in peer-reviewed scientifc journals. Clinically, I have been affiliated with the Rehabilitation Institute of Southern California, Straight Talk Inc., Summa Health System, and, most recently, the Cleveland VA Medical Center.

Life can feel overwhelming when you're weighed down by unresolved trauma, relentless anxiety, creative blocks or the deep pain of grief. You might find yourself stuck in ruminations that keep you from moving forward—whether you're a high achiever or someone supported by your family just launching - mental health issues hold us back from reaching our full potential. Navigating a painful breakup, feeling intense insecurity or struggling with people-pleasing, humans can find themselves in patterns they can’t seem to break. But there’s hope. Together, we can work through these heavy emotions, helping you find relief and renewed purpose.
I partner with my clients to seek new ways to stay mindful and grounded, no matter what life throws at them. Whether through processing past troublesome or traumatic experiences or exploring current difficult situations, I collaborate with you to find new ways of coping and see what options are available to make the necessary changes to have a different, richer, and more fulfilled experience in life.
I create a non-judgmental, warm, and welcoming space for each of my clients and it would be an honor to share some time with you. If you’re here because you’ve been struggling with a life change, feel overwhelmed by anxiety, want to improve your relationships, or you’re seeking support for other challenges, then you’ve come to the right place. With extensive experience working with individuals, couples, families, and teens, I embrace every client with a multiculturally informed, strengths-based approach. I’m an active therapist who will encourage, kindly challenge, and help you to truly grow in our work together. It would be my honor to support you. I love using evidence-based practices that are tailored to each client's specific needs. By incorporating Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and other third-wave modalities, I support my clients in developing groundedness, mental flexibility, and clarity to live a better today and tomorrow.
I know how scary it can be when you are facing a problem in your life that you can't solve by yourself. For most of us, reaching out for help is not easy. My approach to therapy centers around the belief that we need CONNECTION in order to heal. This is why most self-help books aren't as effective as they could be. There is a lot of potential good advice out there but in the absence of a supportive and caring connection, most of it is useless.I am an experienced and respected healer and my passion is helping people face crisis and transitions in their lives with support and guidance. You don't have to do it alone! The relationship between the client and myself IS the healing piece. From that connection, you will feel safe and empowered. Then, exploring your problems seems manageable and finding solutions becomes possible.Lastly, Something else I believe very strongly is the potential to use the obstacles in our lives as stepping-stones. Within the framework of a healthy connection, I can help you to create a more fulfilling life.
My approach to therapy is compassionate, collaborative, and goal oriented to meet each client's unique needs. I believe that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to therapy, and that a flexible and individualized approach is essential for creating meaningful and lasting change. Having worked with individuals, couples, and families for over 12 years, I have developed expertise in addressing a multitude of challenges. These specialties include anxiety, depression, addiction, trauma, grief, loss, anger, and relationship issues. I draw from a range of evidence-based therapies and techniques to tailor treatment to the specific needs and goals of each client. Some of the therapies and techniques I draw from include dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), Gottman method, mindfulness-based approaches, and trauma-focused therapies. If you are looking for a supportive and non-judgmental therapist to help you navigate life's challenges, I am here to help. Let's work together to create solutions, solve problems, and to help you feel more empowered and fulfilled in your life.
I specialize in childhood trauma recovery. I can help you understand and heal from the profound effects of toxic family dynamics. Childhood trauma comes in many forms, from the big life-altering events to the more subtle yet equally impactful experiences like emotional neglect, parental mental illness (narcissism/borderline personality), and parental alcoholism. These experiences wire and shape one's perception, but do not have to define you. I can help you rewire yourself and overcome anxieties that are holding you back in order to reclaim yourself, your voice, and build healthier more fulfilling relationships. I utilize psychodynamic therapy to delve into and explore past experiences aimed at addressing unresolved childhood issues, inner child work to facilitate the reconnection and healing of wounded aspects of your inner child through self-reparenting techniques, and I incorporate compassion-focused therapy to create meaningful change. Sessions are tailored to your unique needs to empower you with transformative tools. Together we will cultivate practical skills that you can apply outside of our sessions, to develop new habits and coping mechanisms, leading to sustainable change. A 'psychological toolbox' to manage emotions, reduce stress and anxiety, and foster personal fulfillment.
I work with clients who wish to develop more robust and authentic relationships with others, a greater sense of peace, or increased self-confidence. These elements form the foundation of a healthy and rewarding life, and I am deeply committed to your wellbeing. I use highly practical and holistic trauma-informed interventions tailored to address the unique needs of each person. My clients consistently report less anxiety and healthier relationships. I specialize in the treatment of early attachment trauma using NARM (neuroaffective relational model). Attachment trauma is the soil in which our personal challenges root, and by addressing it, positive and pervasive personal change happens. NARM doesn't require going through challenging early memories, and sessions are often a peaceful and rewarding experience with results that last over time. I am excited to talk to you about your goals, and how to overcome what's in the way. Know that you are whole and there is nothing wrong with you. By gently (and permanently) shifting our perspective, we can have access to the sense of ease, confidence, and healthy relationships we seek. Have the life you want.
My name is Jeremiah (He, Him) and I'm an openly gay therapist whose passion is to help couples and individuals in the LGBTQ+ Community like you have healthier relationships, as well as helping you to navigate the coming out journey and the unique complexities that come with that lifelong process. Even if you don't identify as LGBTQ+, many clients have found my approach to be open-minded and accepting, and have felt comfortable working alongside me no matter how they identify. To learn more about me and the services I provide, please check out my website by clicking "Visit Website" below my profile picture. I use an attachment-based perspective called emotionally focused therapy to help you have a better understanding of your emotions so that you can be more secure with yourself and more confident in expressing yourself and your needs to others. I believe in the power that comes from being your most authentic self, so I often make use of self-disclosure to help you see what it looks like to put theory into action, and clients often share how meaningful it is to them to feel like they have a therapist who can relate and understand them. In our first session, my focus will be to get a general picture of who you are and begin collaborating on goals for our therapy journey together. Overall, my general hope is that you will learn: What your attachment style is, how it has developed, create a new, positive inner child voice that you no longer feel criticized or defeated by; and that you will develop a secure attachment style in order for you to pursue your most authentic self and have lasting, joyful, satisfying relationships.
