Many people first come to me asking the question "Why?" Why can't I stop doing this? Why do I keep having the same argument with my partner? Why am I so sad, lonely, angry, etc.? Why can't I change this? Why am I suffering so much? Why is my body reacting this way? Why did this happen to me? As strange as it sounds, sometimes really knowing ourselves is a real challenge, and it takes courage to embark on the journey to greater self-awareness. But knowing yourself is the only way to really know what makes you truly, enduringly happy and fulfilled. I invite you to get to know yourself. Let's work together to figure out how you can master your life, change unwanted behaviors, heal and ultimately get happy. I possess a wide range of professional and personal experience. I come from an honest, straight-forward place, and strive to share what I see and feel happening with you that may be getting in the way of your reaching your goals and living the life you want. My goal is to teach you to be your own guide. If you think you may be ready to address what's bothering you more directly, with some professional and compassionate assistance, please contact me for a free 30-minute phone consultation to see if we're a good fit.

I work with individuals from late adolescence through middle adulthood, with a special focus on college-aged individuals and those navigating the challenges of young adulthood. Many of my clients come to therapy struggling with anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, or difficulty connecting with others socially or emotionally. Some feel stuck, unmotivated, or overwhelmed by stress. Others are navigating relationship issues or life transitions and want support in understanding their patterns and moving toward healthier connections. My therapeutic approach is warm, collaborative, and goal-oriented. I draw from a range of evidence-based methods—including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy, and Humanistic Therapy—to meet each client’s unique needs. I often find CBT especially helpful in addressing anxiety, depression, and social skills by offering clear, practical tools for change. Together, we’ll work to build insight, strengthen hope, and create meaningful goals that support lasting growth and emotional well-being.
Most of my work is based in psychoanalysis, which means that we look for the meaning behind thoughts and behaviors, as opposed to focusing on the behaviors per se. Having been a performing musician as well as a mid-level executive in large organizations for many years, and having lived in several countries, traveling widely, I gained life experiences and analytical and interpersonal skills that help me work with a broad range of people. I am a trained psychoanalyst and a Licensed marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT). I have been practicing psychotherapy for fourteen years. Located in the center of Echo Park, my office is convenient to the 101, 110, and 2 freeways. Street parking (metered and unmetered) is easy.
Are you feeling tired of carrying the weight of anxiety, sadness, or old wounds that never seem to fully heal? Maybe you’ve been stuck in the same relationship patterns, struggling with self-criticism, or feeling like no matter what you try, it’s never enough. You might even feel alone in your pain, unsure if anyone will truly understand what you’ve been through. If that sounds familiar, you’re not alone - and you don’t have to go through it by yourself. Therapy can be a place to gently set down what you’ve been carrying and begin to look at it with compassion. Together, we’ll work on finding meaningful relief today, while also uncovering and addressing why your symptoms began in the first place. So often, today’s struggles are connected to earlier experiences—moments when your needs weren’t met, relationships that left you hurt, or stories about yourself that you’ve held onto for years. By making sense of how those experiences shaped the way you see yourself and others, we can begin to open the door to new patterns of healing, freedom, and connection. My approach is relational and attachment-based, which means that I pay close attention to your unique story and the relationships that have shaped you. I specialize in supporting people who are navigating trauma, shame, disconnection, and painful cycles that feel hard to break. Above all, my goal is to offer a safe, compassionate space where you can feel truly seen and supported. If you’re ready to take a step toward healing, I offer a complimentary 15-minute phone or video consultation so we can connect and see if this feels like the right fit for you. I would be honored to hear your story! ---- About Nicole Nicole earned her M.A. in Clinical Psychology from Azusa Pacific University and a B.A. in Psychology from Concordia University, Irvine. Her graduate studies emphasized psychodynamic treatment approaches, systems theory, and psycho-spiritual integration. She currently works under the supervision of Dr. Brett Veltman (PSY 21684). She has worked with clients from diverse backgrounds through her training at Vanguard University, Seaside Psychotherapy, Azusa’s Community Counseling Center, and at elementary and middle schools within the Azusa Unified School District. Her clinical and research interests include developmental trauma, attachment wounding, and somatic integration. Nicole is currently completing Level I training through the Sensorimotor Psychotherapy Institute. Sensorimotor Psychotherapy is a body-based therapeutic approach that promotes holistic healing by addressing not only the emotional and cognitive effects of trauma, but also the ways trauma is carried and expressed in the body. Nicole is eager to integrate this deeper understanding of the body and nervous system’s responses to trauma in order to better support lasting relief from developmental trauma.
I believe therapy should be a safe space where someone in need of help can express themselves without being judged. Eliminating behaviors and beliefs that no longer serve you can help you grow. I use a range of approaches tailored to your needs, assisting you to develop skills and tools that nurture your growth. I use a blend of humanistic and cognitive approaches in therapy, focusing on creating a supportive, empathetic space while helping you develop practical tools for change. A key goal of treatment is to identify and challenge unhelpful thought patterns that can negatively impact your emotions and mood, allowing for healthier perspectives and more balanced emotional well-being. (Mi lengua materna es el español para los que prefieran comunicarse asi).
I support teens and young adults in building coping skills and navigating anxiety, identity, stress, and life transitions. Whether you are feeling overwhelmed, stuck, disconnected, or simply ready to explore more about yourself, I am here to help you navigate these challenges. I am an associate marriage and family therapist employed by Chambliss and Associates, MFT Inc., and I am passionate about supporting adolescents, teens, and young adults as they navigate anxiety, identity, self-esteem, school, relationships, and life transitions. Before becoming a therapist, I worked as an elementary educator and school counselor, which gives me a deep understanding of the social, academic, and emotional experiences young people face. I offer individual therapy for adolescents, teens, and young adults who are dealing with anxiety, self-esteem difficulties, academic or life pressures, and relationship challenges. I earned my master’s in clinical psychology from Pepperdine University. My style is warm and collaborative to help you understand your experiences, build coping strategies, and reconnect with your strengths, values, and sense of self. I integrate evidence-based approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), mindfulness, and psychodynamic and strengths-based perspectives to support you. I offer virtual sessions throughout California, and provide a free initial consultation so you can get a feel for working together. Whether you are a parent seeking support for your child, or a person reaching out for yourself, I am here to help guide the process with care and collaboration. I am supervised by Cathy Chambliss, LMFT 39875.
I believe that therapy helps people heal from present and past wounds, empowering them for struggles to come. My mission as a therapist is to help clients to identify those negative influences and help them make positive changes so they discover who they are, bring in purpose and fulfillment, with the overall goal to live their best life yet. Every person has the ability to positively change, and I will collaboratively work with each client to help them do that. I am trained in and use EMDR to treat and relieve PTSD, acute stress, and anxiety symptoms resulting from traumatic and other life experiences. EMDR therapy can produce elevated emotional and somatic reactions during and after treatment. A typical client experiences a 60-90% reduction in stress as a result of completed treatment. I also have advanced training in R-TEPG-TEP (Recent Traumatic Event Protocol and Group Traumatic Event Protocol). I use a conversational and collaborative approach. These are your sessions and you know yourself best, we can talk about and work on anything you want to work on. I always send emails within 24 hours of getting a referral. Please remember to check your junkspam folders if you have not received anything.
I know how scary it can be when you are facing a problem in your life that you can't solve by yourself. For most of us, reaching out for help is not easy. My approach to therapy centers around the belief that we need CONNECTION in order to heal. This is why most self-help books aren't as effective as they could be. There is a lot of potential good advice out there but in the absence of a supportive and caring connection, most of it is useless.I am an experienced and respected healer and my passion is helping people face crisis and transitions in their lives with support and guidance. You don't have to do it alone! The relationship between the client and myself IS the healing piece. From that connection, you will feel safe and empowered. Then, exploring your problems seems manageable and finding solutions becomes possible.Lastly, Something else I believe very strongly is the potential to use the obstacles in our lives as stepping-stones. Within the framework of a healthy connection, I can help you to create a more fulfilling life.
